Aims To consolidate and enhance advanced non-native speakers'’ understanding of, and skill in the comprehension and production of written and oral discourse in English. To further develop students’ presentation and communication skills in English as a foreign language. Syllabus Advanced Written English Lectures on various types of writing (formal reports and critical reviews as well as advanced vocabulary development, the various styles and registers of social interaction focusing on the English-speaking world beyond the UK. Advanced English Workshop The ‘workshop’ sessions, will be used for practising various kinds of group work, oral presentations and also supervised self-study (also involving use of internet facilities and, towards the end, a series oral assessment sessions.
