COLLECTIONS MANAGER
The Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center in Lawton, Oklahoma, seeks an
experienced and energetic professional to serve as Collections Manager. The Collections
Manager is responsible for the preservation and management of the Museum’s collections of
archaeology, fine arts and ethnography. Duties and responsibilities include care of the
collections; data and records management; documentation of outgoing and incoming loans;
processing and preparation of new and existing acquisitions; assisting visitors; assisting with
supervision of assistants, interns and volunteers; assisting with the development of exhibitions
through collections-related activities; and participating in public programs and educational
activities as appropriate. The Collections Manager will be responsible for implementation of a
variety of collections and research support duties of a highly technical nature. The Collections
Manager should be familiar with the scope and standards of management and preservation of
each museum collection area, as well as necessary documentation. Work is self-initiated and
performed independently and carried out under the direction and supervision of the Assistant
Director. This position also requires occasional work on Saturdays and evenings when necessary.
Qualifications:
MS/MA Degree (preferred) in Anthropology (Cultural or Archaeology), Museum Studies, Art
History, Conservation or related field and 24 months of collections-related experience.
Requirements may be met by equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, as well as the ability to both work
independently and in a team environment.

Indian Blood, verified by their retrospective tribal leader or the superintendent of the agency
having jurisdiction over their tribe. NOTE: *Enrolled members of the Comanche Nation must
identify their enrollment number.
