Description of Class:
During this class we work on the following activities:
Multiple Skills - Read story and complete comprehension questions.
SRA Reading Mastery - Direct Instruction reading lessons.
Practice Book - Complete Lessons on Comprehension, Phonics, and Fluency.
Common Core Coach and Buckle Down Lessons - Complete lessons tied to Common Core State
Standards in Reading.
IEP Monitoring for Comprehension, Sight Words, Fluency.
Proficiency Checks - These tests are given five times per year and data is gathered.
Discovery Education Assessments - This assessment is given three times a year.

SRA Reading Mastery Level 1 and 2 - Decoding and Comprehension
Reading Mastery - The SRA Reading program called Reading Mastery is used in the resource
classrooms. This program is very effective when teaching primary age children how to read.
The program teaches sounds and how to blend sounds to make words. A typical lesson lasts 30
– 45 minutes. It is used with small groups. It is a teacher-directed program.
SRA Corrective Reading Level A, B1, B2 - Decoding and Comprehension
Corrective Reading - The SRA Reading program called Corrective Reading may be used in the
resource classrooms if applicable. This program is very effective when teaching students how to
read. The program teaches sounds and how to blend sounds to make words. A typical lesson
lasts 45 minutes or more. It is used with small groups. It is a teacher-directed program. It is
similar to Reading Mastery and is written by the same authors. Corrective Reading moves more
quickly than Reading Mastery and is geared to older students and even adults.
