Job purpose - overview
This role will provide a competent, integrated support service to businesses and organisations across
a wide range of sectors. The role will support delivery of existing WRAP programmes for the
recycling and reprocessing sector, facilitate business growth in the sector and accelerate the use of
recycled content in manufacturing. The role will also support delivery of projects encouraging
innovation and resource efficiency in the Hospitality, Tourism, Food and Drink sectors. The Business
Account Manager (BAM) will assess businesses’ requirements and identify and secure appropriate
support from WRAP Cymru programmes, from other agencies and WG Departments. They will
subsequently take a lead role in managing the ongoing process on behalf of the client as
appropriate, and maintain a relationship, both to ensure that desired outcomes are achieved, and to
identify further opportunities. The BAM will also be required to provide expert advice and support in
Resource Efficiency (RE) to clients enabling them make decisions which deliver results and supporting
organisational behaviour change to embed the principles of RE. All projects will be delivered using
defined management processes, software and documentation.
Core accountabilities
1. Arrange and attend meetings and site visits throughout Wales, or elsewhere as required, (in some
cases in conjunction with other WRAP specialists) to appraise businesses and identify the
appropriate support from the range of services offered by WRAP Cymru.

Provide business support by:
•
Working with the client to identify opportunities for business growth, resource efficiency
including helping the client to access consultancy support and market intelligence to inform the
prioritisation of these opportunities.
•
Advising and agreeing on subsequent action and desired outcomes.
•
Identifying appropriate support options, and assisting the client to access them, including
acting as the client’s ‘champion/advocate’ as necessary.
•
Liaising with other WRAP teams such as Hospitality, Food and Drink, Sustainable Products or
Organics to assist businesses in operating in accordance with good practice.
3.
Write up reports on appraisal visits (using prescribed templates) to feed back to businesses and
enter activities in appropriate project files and spreadsheets to facilitate tracking of support
provided to businesses.
4.
Contributing to WRAP Cymru reports for WRAP, WG, and other funders as required.
5.
Maintain contact with business clients and act as their first point of contact into WRAP as a
continuing source of advice and support.
6.
Build and develop relationships with key external stakeholders to ensure that the services which
WRAP provide are complementary to those offered by other providers locally and that the benefits
to business are maximised.
7. Liaise and share contacts with other members of staff in WRAP, and as subsequently agreed (and in
line with appropriate confidentiality protocols), with REW.
8. Work closely with colleagues in the Welsh Government as well as across the other delivery bodies
and ensure that liaison and co-ordination of these activities is actively managed.
9. Participate in, and contribute to, external and WRAP organised conferences, seminars, reports and
other publications as appropriate.
10. Ensure all projects are carried out in accordance with WRAP’s procedures including WRAP’s
environmental and H&S policies.
11. Ensure that all work is carried out in line with the aims and objectives of WRAP and the principles
and operating parameters of the organisation.
12. Undertake any other related tasks as may be determined from time to time by the Head of WRAP
Cymru, the Director for Wales, or the Chief Executive.

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering business support activities
