Job purpose - overview
The purpose of this post is to be responsible for developing and delivering a high-profile consumer
campaign across Wales to encourage consumers to recycle more things more often, and in doing so
help deliver Welsh Government’s requirements and targets. The campaign will build on WRAP’s well
established Recycle Now campaign and the existing Recycle for Wales brand.
The postholder will be responsible for developing and managing key relationships with a range of
stakeholders in Wales including retailers, brands, waste management companies, material
reprocessors, local government and the media to encourage and support delivery of campaign
messages, secure additional resources and drive behaviour change via WRAP’s consumer-facing
channels including social and digital media, events and media relations.
The postholder will also; identify appropriate campaign monitoring and evaluation to continue
development of WRAP’s consumer insights and knowledge base, and protect and promote the
integrity of WRAP’s brand equity in Recycle Now.
The post holder will be managing and providing leadership for two members of staff.
Core accountabilities
1.
Development of a communications strategy and plan to drive increased recycling in Wales.
2.
Day to day management and development of the recycling campaign for Wales. This will include
direct delivery of a multi-media campaign, managing support and producing resources for
partners, to deliver activities and manage the campaign budget to maximise value and impact.
3.
To line manage and develop two members of staff with the aim of increasing the team’s
experience and knowledge of national consumer campaign management while coordinating their
work with Local Authorities in the delivery of local recycling communications .
4.
Identify key stakeholders and, working with the WRAP Behaviour Change Manager, develop new
high quality strategic and tactical partnerships to help maximise impact across Wales. This will
include securing both in-kind support and new funding.

Working with the WRAP Behaviour Change Manager be responsible for managing relationships
with a range of stakeholders in Wales including retailers, brands, waste management companies,
material reprocessors, local government bodies and the media.
6.
Target key audiences for the campaign and develop and deliver key messages for these
audiences. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure this is consistent and co-ordinated where
necessary with messages from other WRAP teams and consumer campaigns.
7.
Maximise the potential for digital and social media as channels for consumer and partner
messages working with the WRAP Digital Team.
8.
In conjunction with WRAP’s evaluation team identify and manage processes and systems for
reporting the impact of the campaign in Wales.
9.
Ensure the integrity and quality of WRAP’s brand offering, knowledge and research in the area of
consumer insight on recycling and re-use.
10. Work closely with other programmes across WRAP / WRAP Cymru to ensure a coherent joined
up approach to consumer communication.
11. Work closely with the Head of Resource Management and the Behaviour Change Manager to
undertake other appropriate work as and when required.
12. Ensure all projects are carried out in line with the aims and objectives of WRAP/WRAP Cymru
and are in line with the principles, operating parameters and processes of the organisation.

Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant professional qualification
Demonstrable track record in developing and delivering successful consumer multi-channel
campaigns at scale (either in-house or within an agency) and with and for multiple stakeholders,
clients or accounts
Demonstrable track record in line management
Proven strategic skills and understanding of how to apply campaigning and behaviour change
tools to achieve goals
Demonstrable knowledge of using research and identifying actionable insight to inform campaign
directions and evaluate impact
Experience of establishing partnerships to support delivery of objectives.
Proven brand management experience
Proven ability to multi-task and prioritise
Demonstrable experience of managing a marketing/campaign budget
Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrable evidence of strong existing relationships with relevant stakeholders across Wales
Desirable

Competent Welsh language speaker
Knowledge of or able to demonstrate a strong interest in the environment and environmental
