Press release 100 Future Engineers enrolled in Continental’s Competition in Iasi Almost 100 future engineers from the technical universities in Moldavia gathered at the Students’ Competition in Iasi 2.700 Euros and a scholarship have been this year’s awards Iasi, April 29th, 2013. During the 26th and the 27th of April, 2013, Continental Automotive Iasi, subsidiary of Continental Corporation, one of the most important automotive suppliers in the field, organized the 7th edition of the Students’ Competition. The event addresses all the students from technical universities who wish to test their knowledge and answer an interesting technical challenge which could be the starting point in building a successful career. In December 2012, Continental proposed the students from technical faculties in Iasi, Suceava, Bacau, Galati and Chisinau a new subject of discussion which can be resumed in one word: „ElectroMobility 2”. Following the projects’ evaluation, 27 teams were accepted to compete in the end: 18 from the Technical University „Gh. Asachi”, Iasi, 4 teams from the Technical University of Moldavia, Chisinau, 4 teams from the Technical University „Stefan cel Mare”, Suceava and one team from „Dunarea de jos” University, Galati. All the participating teams received two BLDC engines and 70 Euros financial support for developing their projects. The car testing occurred Saturday, April 13th, at Continental, Poitiers Blvd No 6, Iasi. A testing track was installed where the teams had the possibility to test and adjust their cars. This year’s competition had for the first time a junior section: ElectroMobility Junior – where 10 out of 14 applicants were accepted. The task consisted in offering a technical solution for building an electronic circuit following the specifications required by the organizers. The practical task, the test, the final evaluation of the projects and the award ceremony took place on April, 27th. Winning teams: Junior Category 1st place – prize soldering station - Craescu Stefan, Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faculty - 83 points 2nd place – prize – digital multimeter - Arnautu Stefan Ionut, Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faculty - 51points 3rd place – prize - breadboard test plate - Maciuca Iulian, Automatics and Computers Faculty – 35 points Senior Category - electroMobility 2 1st place – team no. 31- V.A.M.A. - Gh. Asachi Iasi Technical University, Automatics and Computers Faculty. Members: Costea Andrei Alexandru, Palasanu Vlad, Mihaila Mihai, Stanciu Alexandru Ioan. Coordinating professor: Cătălin Brăescu. This team also received a special prize – a scholarship. 2nd place – team no. 12- Suceava4 - Stefan cel Mare, Suceava University, Electrical Engineering and Computers Faculty. Members: Gheliuc Ionel Florin, Cenusa Mihai Marian, Macovei Silviu, Paval Stefan. Coordinating professor: Remus Cătălin Prodan. Third place – team no. 30 - Byte-Tronyk - Stefan cel Mare Suceava University, Electrical Engineering and Computers Faculty. Members: Amariei Gheorghe, Tofanescu Petru, Pinzariu Marian Nicolae, Girneț Sergiu. Coordinating professor: Constantin Filote. The special prize of 300 Euros for the best visibility in Social Media was won by Robotech team: Gh. Asachi Iasi Technical University, Electrical, Energetic Engineering and Applied Informatics Faculty. Members: Enache Mihaela Violeta, Onica Marian Cristi, Tiron Alexandru. Coordinating professor: Fosalau Cristian. „We felt really good while competing in this challenge. We are happy we succeeded to get so far and to win the big prize and also a scholarship. It is an experience which will help us in the future and we hope to take part also in 2014. It was tiring, challenging, but we are happy. We won!” said the members of V.A.M.A. team at the award giving ceremony. The total amount of prizes offered by Continental rises up to 2.700 Euros: first place – 1.100 Euros, second place – 800 Euros, third place – 500 Euros and two special prizes: one of 300 Euros and the second one consists in a scholarship offered by Continental, a priceless plus in any candidate’s CV. „This event is benefic for both sides: the students gain practical experience and teamwork while Continental discovers talented people, willing to work in the automotive industry.
