Math Intervention 8
Mrs. Jackson
Math support class for 8th graders
You were placed in intervention because it was noted you needed extra support in
mathematics. This was either determined by test scores or previous or current math teacher’s
recommendations. Instruction in the class will be aligned to the pacing of their 8th grade math
class and additional support to help build knowledge gaps. There will be time for Homework
help.
Student Expectations
Students will be expected to collaborate in groups and should be focused on math topics.
Students will be expected to work at their full potential and turn in the highest quality work.
Students will be expected to respect people and property in the classroom.
Recommended Supplies
 Composition notebook (to be kept in class)
 Pencil
 Dry Erase Marker (2 preferred)
Need games for class donations (Uno, connect 4, etc…) Games will be used for Reward time
Grading
 Homework: There is no homework for this class 
 Classwork ( 80% of your overall grade)
Students will track their daily grades and compute their weekly averages.
√+ = 100%
√ = 75%
√– = 50 %
Absent = √
 Homework Help (10% of your overall grade)
Homework from your math classes should be brought daily. Completed or not. We will
use the HW to help each other answer questions you may have. I will be working in
small concept groups (tutorials)
 Parent Communication/ Organization (10% of your overall grade)
Bring your binder reminder daily. Also we will be doing organization checks.
Policy on tardiness:
2 Tardies = S in citizenship (Tardy reflection)
3 Tardies = N in citizenship (Tardy reflection)
4 Tardies = U in citizenship (referral to office)
Citizenship
O- Outstanding. Student is on time to class everyday. Does not break classroom or school rules. Is an active
participant in a positive way during class time. High level of cooperation with teacher and fellow
students. Effort is above and beyond basic expectation.
S- Satisfactory. Student has two unexcused tardies to class. Does not break classroom or school rules most of
the time. Is an active participant in a positive way during class time most of the time. Cooperates with
teacher and fellow students most of the time. Meets expectations most of the time.
N- Needs Improvement. Student has three unexcused tardies to class. Has a tendency to break classroom
rules and school rules. Has a tendency to disrupt the teacher or fellow class members during class time. Does
not work cooperatively with fellow class members most of the time.
U- Unsatisfactory. Student has four or more unexcused tardies to class. Student has a difficult time following
class rules and school rules all the time. Student has a difficult time functioning as a student in regular
classroom setting all the time. Need frequent reminding by the teacher.
