Digital Imaging 1B Course Syllabus Mrs. Simonian E - m a i l : TXS9178@LAUSD.NET Class Website: http://www.erhs.la/classes/simonian Welcome to spring semester of Digital Imaging. This course is designed for students with intermediate to advanced computer skills . This course will continue learning applications within the Adobe Creative Suite producs that include, but are not limited to, Adobe Illustrator, Flash, and Photoshop. Course Objectives • Develop techniues and creative style by using illustrator’s various drawing and shape tools • Develop web-based multimedia materials that contain sound, graphic, animation and interactive components using Adobe Flash • Demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop digital art and animations using technology. Recommended Materials • USB flash disk (250MB is sufficient) • Earphones Grading Lessons 30% Tests 30% Projects 25% Quizzes 15% Work Habits and Cooperation E= Excellent work habits and/or cooperation, student exceeds expectations and shows enthusiasm for learning. No tardies and/or unexcused absences. S= Satisfactory work habits and/or cooperation, student meets expectations for classroom conduct. No excessive tardies and/or unexcused absences. U= Unsatisfactory work habits and/or cooperation, student is below expectations for classroom conduct. Excessive tardies and/or unexcused absences. Late Work Policy All assignments will be posted on the class website in advance at www.erhs.la/classes/simonian, so it is strongly suggested that students check the course agenda regularly to keep up with the course work. Work is assigned in two week intervals to accommodate for block scheduling, and all the work is due at the end of the two week period. Any work submitted after the due date will be deducted 10% for each day that it is late, and no late work will be accepted a week after the due date. Work turned in late as a result of an absence will not be penalized as long as the absence is excused by the attendance office, however students must make arrangements to make-up the missing work on their own time. Access to a computer lab is avaiable in the library during nutrition, lunch and on certain days during after school tutoring. Accommodations Please make arrangements with the teacher in advance if you require more time or other accommodations in class. Accommodations or modifications will be provided as needed. Classroom Rules • No food, drink, gum, or candy is allowed in the computer lab. • Downloading, installing, or playing of games IS NOT PERMITTED. • Avoid damaging or removing computer hardware or software. • Students are expected to arrive to class and be seated on time. Three tardies will result in an unsatisfactory work habits mark. IMPORTANT: Violation or lack of adherence to any of the above rules will result in disciplinary action, including counseling, detention, referral or suspension of student login account. Course Assignments Classroom in a Book (CIB) Lessons, Practices, Daily Work 40% Our daily routine consists of students completing self-paced video tutorials that guide students through the tools and techniques used in the the various applications, pointing out the different features within. Students will be required to complete the exercises and turn in their finished work. Tests 20% The lesson tutorials teach students in small chunks, focusing on specific features one at a time. After completing a lesson, the student is given a test to assess their learning. Integrating Projects 25% Students will complete Integrated projects at regular intervals, which serves as a global assessement of what was covered in each lesson. Quizzes 15% Students will also be given various quizzes after completing a unit to assess their knowledge and understanding of the material learned. The format will be an online quiz consisting of multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions.
