Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards. Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in buildings. Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics, comprehend complex drawings, specifications and procedures. Understanding of flushing and system fluid cleanliness installation. Ability to assemble, disassemble and test various tools and assemblies for onshore and offshore surface and subsea applications. Reviews project instructions and blueprints to ascertain procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies. Assemble, disassemble and test various tools and assemblies for onshore and offshore surface and subsea applications. Repairs new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment and machine tools. Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job The work environment for the employee in the above position is both indoors and outdoors. At times the humidity may be above 90%. The employee will move equipment and furniture and be close to vibrating equipment. The work surface is stable and the employee will have to work with arms extended below the waist, unsupported, elbows flexed, wrist supported and unsupported. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw. The job requires climbing ladders and stairs and using a wide variety of hand tools. Twelve hour shifts are the norm working on a concrete surface. They must be able to speak clearly, hear in all ranges, particularly speech range. The employee must be able to read and see at a distance. The employee may have to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment may occasionally be outdoors during the day and occasionally outdoors and indoors during the night. The employee may occasionally have to operate a motor vehicle. Work can occasionally be in confined spaces, at elevated heights, on an unstable work surface, exposed to loud noise (over 85 decibels), crawl, sit with back supported, and sit on vibrating equipment. The employee will constantly have to have eye protection and steel/safety toed shoes/boots. They will frequently have to head and hand/gloves protection. Occasionally they must have hearing protection. The employee will exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. This is considered Heavy Work.
