Admissions (Perry and Rob) http://www.colorado.edu/pba/adm/pw/

Common Application new to UCB this year.

Total applicants as of Saturday 5,056, up 47% from last year at same time. Res up 17%, NR up 62%.

50% of res apps and 77% of NR apps via the Common Application.

Issues with getting complete Common App data loaded on our system; over 90% of CA apps are incomplete at
this time.

Peer comparisons – Lots of institutions use CA but relatively few of our peers (large flagship publics). Michigan,
North Carolina, Ohio State probably closest comps. OSU for first time fall ’13. UNC and Michigan had 30%+ increase
in NR apps, relatively small yield drops.
New and updated IR postings (Blake, Fran, Perry)

In academia, most attention is given to an individual’s paid salary, but a university employee’s
compensation includes not only the individual’s base salary, but also fringe benefits such as health care
and retirement
Preparing to conduct different types of salary equity studies
 External
o Are the current salaries paid to faculty and staff at CU Boulder fair relative to comparable
institutions?
o Studies rely on descriptive statistics
 Internal
o Are faculty and staff treated equitably within CU Boulder relative to each other with regard to
gender, race, age, etc.
o Studies use multivariate statistics
Recent progress
o Significant improvements in process for collecting and integrating employee data, especially
 Institution and other additional appointments
 Total fiscal year salaries
 Integrating external sources of data: IPEDS, AAUP, CUPA, etc.
 Payments made to employees beyond base salary (from work on STAR METRICS data
submissions)
 Ability to look at data over time
o Have identified key resources for conducting salary equity studies
 Literature – provides frameworks and specific techniques
 Working with Torrey Tiburzi (Affirmative Action Officer)
FCQ (Fanchon)

Analysis of RAP optional questions administered in spring 2013

Distributed to RAP units undergoing Academic Review and Planning in fall 2013

Similar to analysis performed in 2001 for RAP units

These results are not posted to the PBA website but for internal use

Exploring the feasibility of using bar codes instead of slugging on FCQ forms

Printing services and campus scanning support this change

Provides FCQ staff the ability to encode more information on the form
