ADDED email 5/15/13
I neglected to put on the agenda or mention a new posting that may be of interest to many of you. Thanks to
Fran and Blake, we now link to displays tracking entering-freshmen to 4 and 6 year graduation from UCB,
graduation from other schools, continued enrollment at UCB, and enrollment at other schools. The basic
display has been available through the VSA College Portrait for years. What’s new, and available from our
graduation page – displays for subgroups including men and women, res and NR, entering college, race/ethnic
group, first gen.
See our grad rate page to get all the links. http://www.colorado.edu/pba/records/gradrt/ It says:

Graduation and continuation rates at both CU-Boulder and other institutions for undergraduate students starting fall 2006
(uses data from National Student Clearinghouse, displayed via College Portrait)
 New freshmen and transfers
 New freshmen only
 Males | Females
 Entered as Colorado Resident (In-state) | Males | Females
 Entered as Out-of-State | Males | Females
 Entered College of Engineering | Entered Leeds School of Business
 Pell Grant Recipients
 First Generation (neither parent earned a bachelor’s degree)
 Under-represented Minorities (African-American, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander)
 Asian-American
Common app, coming up

Will open August 1. Both our own and Common App will be available, for UG only

Expect NR apps up 20-35% range. Maybe Res too because DU, CSU already on

Implications for processing and predicting. Working with Ohio State, Michigan, other earlier adopters to model. If
apps up 30%, how much does the probability that each app will come go down?

Pre engineering

ACO’s from EN to A&S now labeled “pre-engineering,” get special advising, in GEEN courses, other benefits

Goals
CU-Boulder PBA – LMcC Lou McClelland– Document1 – 2/7/2016 - Page 2
Institutional Analysis Advisory Board
3





Improve yield – Through 2012 yield for ACO’s was ~70% of expected for BU, 50% for EN

Improve advising and curricular paths to increase success and chances of [intra-U-]transferring to Engineering
Parties: Admissions, portal, student records, Engineering, A&S, Orientation, dueling quirky systems set up for things
As They Were in 2010
Implemented in student records as 2-plan stack in A&S, with 1 plan XXAS or other A&S major, 1 plan PREN-COS ,
with subplan indicating initial engineering interest (e.g., electrical)
In 2012 were 304 ACO’s from EN, 270 from BU. And about 150 IUT’s from A&S to each of BU, EN.
Projecting 440-480 pre-engineering fall 2013
About tuition – now posted for ’13-14 - http://www.colorado.edu/pba/budget/tuitionfees/2013-14tuition.html not
covered
Not covered
PBA posting to know: Courses – 3 key resource Excels at http://www.colorado.edu/pba/course/ under “over time”

SCH by instructor type (Igroup), course level and PBA assigned college, division and department

Still have to scrub CU-SIS instructor data to get out people placed there for admin purposes only. Worst:
Cynthia Gibbons, Law. And she changed from classified to exempt, thereby eluding the scrubbing and
causing Bill Kaempfer momentary panic when it looked like Law % SCH from non-TTT had soared.

SCH detail by individual section from 2005-06

Grade distributions and FCQ ratings by course, fall 2006 - present.

To do: Web access confusing, overlap/not confusing, probably some inconsistencies
