The Master’s Program with Licensure in Middle Childhood Education offers is a clinical program that can be completed in 4 consecutive academic terms. To finish the program in 4 consecutive semesters, teacher candidates are expected to begin their program of study during the Summer 2014-2015 academic term and are required follow the prescribed sequence of courses. Teacher candidates who enter the program in Fall or

Spring semester or who must meet additional content knowledge requirements may require more than 4 semesters to successfully complete their requirements. In addition, prior to the end of the Fall 2015-16 academic term, teacher candidates who have been accepted into the Clinical Program must submit official documentation of having successfully passed the two required content exams of the Assessment for Ohio

Educators.

Field Experience: All teacher candidates in the clinical program must complete a year-long clinical experience which includes a Fall seminar [EDPL 6920] and Spring seminar [EDPL 5650]. During the Fall

2015-16 academic term teacher candidates are required to observe and teach in a classroom a minimum of 2 full days each week. During the Spring 2015-16 academic term teacher candidates are required to complete the full-time Professional Internship.

Program of Study: Applicants who are admitted to the program must meet with their assigned academic advisor prior to beginning any course work. All teacher candidates must complete an approved program prior to the end of the Fall 2015-16 academic term.

Licensure: To satisfy requirements for licensure, each teacher candidate has the option to take the new Ohio

Assessment for Educators [OAE] content exam in his/her area of concentration. It is the candidate’s responsibility to submit a passing score on both OAE tests to his/her academic advisor and the Office of

Student Affairs in The Patton College of Education before the start of the Fall 2015-16 academic term. If a teacher candidate fails to take or pass the OAE exam by the required deadline, he/she must meet with his/her advisor to revise the program of study.

Master’s Research Project: Please be advised that your Academic Advisor may not be available to help you complete your EDTE 6940 Master’s Research Project during Summer 2015-16. However, you may be able to complete your Master’s Research project during Spring 2015-16 semester. If you are unable to do so you may not be able to complete your Master’s Research Project until Fall 2016-17. Please make sure to discuss this issue with your Academic Advisor prior to the start of Spring 2015-16 semester.
