Ox-bow lake
a meander that has been cut
off from the main river channel
and abandoned.
Point bar
sand and gravel deposited on
the inside of a meander bend.
Solution/corrosion chemical reaction occurs when
slightly acidic water dissolves
calcium, breaking down rock
such as limestone.
Suspended load
smaller fragments of material
carried in the flow of the river.
Transportation
the carrying of material by the
river. This material is known as
its load.
Vertical erosion
downward erosion of the river
bed.
Waterfall
a place on a river where the
water flows vertically.
Weathering
breaking up of rocks by the
action of weather, plants,
animals and chemical
processes.
