Description of Business Environment:
The successful candidate will hold responsibility for all UK based Helicopter programmes.
Responsibilities include $1.5B FP/FFP development, $500M in performance-based
logistics programmes and various fleet support contracts as well as responsibility for
growing the Merlin/CROWSNEST related business. Expand the business in the Maritime,
UAV and Sustainment markets. Responsibilities also include cost schedule, technical
performance, keep sold and business development strategies.
Annual sales from current business are in excess of $200M. Customer interface is typically
at the 1 star and below level.Directs all phases of programs from inception through
completion. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and
training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary
actions. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company
programs or subsystems of major programmes.
Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the
preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications,
operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary customer
contact for program activities, leading programme review sessions with customer to
discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria
and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Develops
new business or expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and
monitors adherence to master plans and schedules identifies programme problems and
obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
Directs the work of employees assigned to the programme from technical, manufacturing
and administrative areas.

The successful candidate will lead a team of project managers and engineers with overall
accountability for the delivery of projects to technical, schedule, quality and cost
requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to have a broad understanding of
engineering disciplines in an airborne environment together with a sound understanding of
project management principles demonstrated by a successful track record.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading the preparation of bids and
proposals for follow on work in the area and provide support to Business Development in
the pursuit of new opportunities.
Required Skills:
Demonstrated experience managing large, complex, aviation development and integration
programmes. Particularly, experience in managing programmes through the integration,
ground and flight test, and delivery phases.
P&L Experience.
Extensive experience with the Royal Navy customer and MoD Procurement.
An appropriate degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined
education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with
assignment.

Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Ideally require an appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience
