Description of Business Environment:
The LMUK IS&GS is responsible for a number of programmes across a diverse range of
Customers in the Defence and Security related market sectors. This is growing busines
environment with a number of existing programmes and projects with follow-on work and
new capture opportunities. All programmes and projects in this area are mission critical
to the End User and range in size, complexity and duration. All activity is undertaken
working very closely with the Customer in a genuine integrated project environment.
Standard Job Description:
Directs all phases of projects from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost,
schedule and technical performance of company programmes or subsystems of major
programmes. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes.
Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and
specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as
primary Customer contact for programme activities, leading programme review sessions
with the Customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Develops new
business or expands the product line with the Customer. Establishes milestones and
monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies programme problems and
obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
Directs the work of employees assigned to the programme from technical, manufacturing,
administrative and other functional areas.
Typical Minimum Education and Experience:
Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college. Will also consider
individuals with equivalent experience / combined education.
Specific Job Description:
The position will be full-time within the Intelligence portfolio of existing programmes. The
position requires experience in management of change within a programme, a sound
project support background and a conceptual knowledge of information and security
systems. Work location is based around the Farnborough area. Details of the role are:






Programme leadership for a key project within the Intelligence Portfolio, ensuring key
milestones are met within budget, schedule and to the Customers satisfaction.
Review, improve and manage the project support processes to achieve continual
business improvement.
Support the Intelligence Portfolio Lead by growing the contract through effective
change management.
Manage the programme support function resource levels to ensure provision of
effective cover for all services during periods of planned leave and absence.
Developing opportunities for follow on business within the Intelligence Portfolio both
within the UK and internationally.
Support to and leadership of new business capture opportunities, within the
Intelligence and sustainment areas, working closely with suppliers, bid teams and
customers to deliver innovative cost effective proposals.
Required Skills:
 Primary: Programme/Project Management experience with Prince2 or Association of
Project Management methodology training and/or equivalent qualifications.
 Strong risk and opportunity management.
 An effective Leader capable of motivating teams in a matrix organisation with the
ability to:
 Operate independently and as a member of teams.
 Delegate and lead by example.
 Confident self starter capable of handling a myriad of enquires/problems without
appreciable direction.
