Airborne platform focus is applied to both manned and unmanned solutions; maritime focus is applied to both navigational and self defence systems. The role plays an integral part in growing the Military Solutions backlog through active leadership in strategic and organisational planning cycles. This role is responsible for long range strategic and technology planning, business opportunity identification and validation, capture plan development and execution, and customer relationship management. This role focuses on new business captures in defence sciences and technology, focusing on growth in the UK MoD market as well as ancillary European and Middle East opportunities. Specific Job Description: The role is comprehensive of: Lead all phases of new product developments, which entail both bespoke projects and large program enhancements, from opportunity qualification to contract award. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company technology development programs and related capture activities, including the development and pursuit of subsystems for major programs. This can involve both internal and customer funding. Participate in the negotiation of contract, subcontract, and contract changes, as well as memorandums of understanding and teaming/partnering arrangements. Drives the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary customer contact for development program activities, leading program review sessions with potential customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Deputises for the Military Solutions Managing Director as required / requested, and represents the organisation at Executive-level review meetings. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules across the Military Solutions portfolio, identifying program problems and attaining solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Develops new business opportunities in ancillary markets while expanding product lines with existing customers. The role works side-by-side with Business Development and Programme Delivery principals as well as engineering leads to translate customer needs (current and anticipated) into discriminating technical and business solutions for Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems product lines. Required Skills: Proven performance and broad experience with military technology developments and campaigns. Experience with international business practices. Experience in coordinating/implementing project plans including technical, schedule and budget requirements. Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities and presentation/ communication skills. Ability to confidently present materials to peers, customers and senior Lockheed Martin leadership. Experience leading multi-disciplined teams through the development of proposal artefacts, software modules, and hardware elements in order to develop winning bids and successful programmes. Experience working with a variety of customer communities including UK MoD, UK acquisition and UK partner nation user communities.
