iCRAG Post-doctoral position: RM1.1 PD2 Tracing Geochemical Signatures Associated with Carbonate-Hosted Pb-Zn Deposits of the Irish Midlands The Department of Geology at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and the Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences seek applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in Mineral Deposits Geology tracing geochemical signatures associated with carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn deposits of the Irish Midlands. The Post-Doctorial Research Associate will help lead a research team tasked with characterizing cryptic hydrothermal alteration haloes along structures associated with Pb-Zn replacement (Irish-type) deposits. The program will involve several postgraduate researchers embarking on various aspects of a large regional lithogeochemistry program, focussed on hydrothermally altered carbonate strata and unaltered lithotypes throughout the Irish Midlands. iCRAG, the new Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences, is funded under the SFI Research Centres Programme and is co-funded under the European Regional Development Fund. It is supporting >40 new early career research opportunities. This appointment is for 24 months. It has a salary of ca. €34,000 up to €37,000. The anticipated start date is September 1st 2015. Completion of a Ph.D. is preferred, although highly qualified applicants nearing the end of a Ph.D. will be considered. Relevant experience in the field of geochemistry and hydrothermal mineral deposits is essential as is a sound knowledge of mineralogy.
