Cherry Creek Career & Technical Education Comprehensive Commercial Photography Standards Compliance: Meet Arapahoe Community College’s Concurrent Enrollment requirements Meet State of Colorado Visual Art/Film Standards Meet CTE SkillUSA Commercial Photography Standards Course Objectives: To teach students to use a digital DLSR 35mm camera and related photography software applications. In addition, students will use the computer to conduct research, to write weekly summary reports, one research paper, and work with various software programs to interface with digital photography and the business industry that pro photographers must interface with, which includes but is not limited to: Word, PowerPoint or Keynote, iPhoto; Adobe Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 4, Adobe Bridge, and the Internet. To teach students effective darkroom skills for film development and printing. To provide students with opportunities to learn basic layout planning, composition, working neatly, using equipment properly/accurately, and learning how to present in front of others. Also, this class provides the opportunity for students to grade other’s assignments/projects fairly and to evaluate/grade themselves with respect. To teach students the Element of Art and Principles of Design well as principles of business, self-employment, marketing, customer service, and advertising. To teach/develop a resume, learn interviewing skills, and marketing oneself in the business marketplace. To gain an understanding of the production of acceptable work that meets industry standards. To introduce students to various forms of graphic representation. To introduce students to time and quality production requirements. To orient students to the range of photography methods, topics, and occupations in this field. We will endeavor to invite various pro photographers into class; some students may even have the opportunity to shoot with a pro photographer based on their performance, professionalism, interest level, attitude, and ability. To learn the basics of how to critique. To learn and practice how to present in front of others; public speaking. To prepare students for the next level of Fine Arts training and education.
