Marketing and Communications Brief
External Relations & Communications raises awareness of University services, projects and news with a range of
stakeholders including prospective and current students and staff. Please discuss your project with us early to
ensure that we have enough time to develop and deliver the right marketing and communications tools for you.
We generally require at least 3 – 4 weeks’ notice for most jobs and longer if your request is complex.
Please complete this form for all requests (including quotes and reprints) and return it to: marketing@napier.ac.uk
This provides the basis for discussion to finalise your brief. You may not have all the answers yet but please
provide as much detail as possible so that we can provide a timely and efficient service.
Our commitment to you:
 to provide advice and services including: design for print, digital and web; marketing consultancy; public and
media relations; internal and corporate communications; publications; photography and film;
 to offer clear, responsive communication and realistic recommendations based on resources and deadlines;
 to provide limited proofs for approval before work is completed and signed off. Please note that two rounds of
revisions is industry standard and any more than that may delay your project and increase the final cost;
 to welcome your feedback and aim to continually improve the services we offer.
What we ask from you:
 to involve us in your project at an early stage and communicate your objectives clearly;
 to be available to comment on and approve work to avoid delay (personally or via an alternative contact).
Note: because there is a high demand for our services, we are prioritising work which fits within the
University's strategic objectives, with a focus on student recruitment, internal communications and strengthening
our academic/research profile. If your request does not fit within one of these areas, we may recommend the use
of external suppliers (such as freelance graphic designers) who have been procured by the department.
