My favorite place in Tashkent Arie Nam 1RuG1 March 15, 2013 In 2008n I came to Uzbekistan with my family because of my father’s job. I was born in America, and after 6 years of living there, I moved to South Korea. I travelled a lot and went to different countries, such as Thailand, Taiwan, Mongolia, Turkey, Egypt and Iran which is why I experienced only Asian, European and Arabic culture. But when I first met a Muslim culture and it made me very interested because this culture was new for me. When this topic was announced “My Favorite Place in Tashkent” I asked my friends to find the good places in Tashkent and they told me about Hast Imam. At that time I remembered the first time that I went to that place. The Muslim culture that was shown in the religious centre just amazed me and that is the reason why my favorite place in Tashkent is Hast Imam. First of all, Hast Imam Is the religious centre of Tashkent and it is well-known not only in Tashkent, but all over the entire world. That is because one of the most famous Koran- the Ottoman Koran is in the library of Hast Imam. The Ottoman Koran was written in the 7th century and because of the people who wanted this Koran it moved from place to place such as Medina, Damascus, Baghdad, Samarkand, Ufa and St. Petersburg. On addition to this famous Koran, there are also 30,000 historical manuscripts and books that are found there as well. Second of all, Hast Imam is the residence of the Central Asian Islamic Religious Board and also the Barak-Khan madrassah and Till-Sheikh mosque. Also you can see the famous grave of Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi. Abu was a scientist, poet and an Islamic theologian who is famous in Muslim world. That’s why this place is popular. Because of these different buildings and structures, tourists and other people just fall in love with this place. Last of all, Hat Imam was the religious place for Muslim pilgrims. In the Tillsheikh Mosque, Barak-khan and other Islamic institutes were for the mullahs to teach the students. Also like a dormitory students lived in this place. They kept lots of manuscripts and books like the Ottoman Koran also known as the Quran of Caliph Uthman. Even now, scientists and other people come to see this amazing place to observe and see the Muslim culture. This place really impressed me not only because of the Koran but also because of the specialists who work there inside the Hast Imam. They make traditional clothes, sell souvenirs and there are famous specialists who makes incredible things with the wood. Simply by looking at his work it really surprises people. Tourists really enjoy watching and buying amazing architectures from this place. I think because of the beautiful buildings and traditional souvenirs people are coming here. I think it’s not only my favorite place, but also a favorite place for Uzbeks and people who have been here.
