MISSION STATEMENT: “Physical Education will provide an individualized, developmentally appropriate, and personally challenging instructional program that will advance the knowledge, confidence, skills and motivation needed to engage in a lifelong, healthy, active lifestyle.”
PE RULES 2013-2014
GOAL: To establish and teach Physical Education and Physical Fitness programs, which will enable students to become physically fit through many sports, weight conditioning and activities. Also, to provide aesthetic values, develop good sportsmanship and proper mental attitudes.
ALL STUDENTS WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE FITNESS GRAM ASSESSMENT
THIS FALL. This assessment consists of:
Aerobic Capacity:
PACER test
Muscular Strength, Endurance, and Flexibility:
Abdominal strength and endurance (curl-up)
Trunk extensor strength and endurance (trunk lift)
Upper body strength and endurance (push-up)
Flexibility (shoulder stretch.)
Body mass index (calculated from height and weight)
All classes will begin in roll call with Stretching Techniques, Push-ups, Sit-ups and
Plyometrics to Warm-up. ** Students must participate or receive a grade of 0.
PROCEDURES:
1.
Wear tennis shoes each day to P.E. class. (No Crocs, sandals, hiking boots, heels, flip flops, or cleats allowed please.)
2.
Come into the gym quietly and sit in designated stretch line.
3.
Listen for teacher directions.
4.
Start and stop on teacher cues (voice, whistle, etc.)
5.
Play by the rules.
6.
Line up and enter the hall quietly.
RULES:
1.
Follow all teacher directions.
2.
Follow the rules of the game.
3.
Respect others.
4.
Respect equipment.
5.
Raise hand to share ideas.
6.
Ask adult for permission to leave the gym.
GRADING CRITERIA:
Participation (attitude, cooperative behavior, sportsmanship, effort!)
Dressing out (mesh athletic shorts, white/gray t-shirt)
Projects
