The fifth graders wear white caps that say "English Helpers" in order to help the younger children identify which students are running the activities. There are about five different English activities that are simultaneously being run and played. Children are able to play as many games as they want and as many times as they desire. Stickers are given out as prizes to children who speak in English while they are playing the games. Here is a list of the activities: 1. Bingo(topics: clothes, family, colors, school) 2. Memory - match picture to word (topic: food) 3. Pin the tail on the donkey (fifth graders must direct younger children using the directional language: "up, down, right, left" 4. Jump rope the ABC's (children jump rope while saying the alphabet. If the child jumping misses a jump, he must begin saying the alphabet over again.) 5. Spelling Bee (fifth graders give younger kids a white board, a white board marker and an eraser. Fifth graders help the younger children write letters, cvc words, and the 100 most common words on the white boards) YL Morning Radio Show Activity3 - English Excellence Project Yad LeBanim's primary focus is student excellence in all subjects, especially English. Yad Lebanim promotes excellence in English by selecting the top ten students from each grade to take responsibility over a particular school project. The second graders make English posters that they hang up around the different classrooms and school. The third graders make computer presentations about themselves, families, school and Petach Tikva. The Fourth graders are in charge of Yad Lebanim Radio. The fourth graders will also take part in a whole school spelling Bee. The Fifth graders are in charge of the English Recess Breaks. The sixth graders will take part in an English Debate. During the English Excellence meetings, students are required to speak only in English. It is magical to see the students communicating with each other only in English.
