Miner Clubs at Coal Mountain Elementary School: Winter 2015
All Miner Clubs will meet from 2:40-3:50 p.m. for six weeks. Please fill out the attached registration form and send payment in
to your child’s teacher. Checks should be made payable to Coal Mountain Elementary and include your child’s name and the
name of the club in the memo section. We are excited there are 12 clubs to choose from (please see the front and back of
this paper). Your child can choose more than one club. Please fill out a separate registration form for each club and
each individual child (if more than one child in family is participating).
MONDAY CLUBS: 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9
Cooking Club:
Start the New Year in the kitchen with Mrs. Schwaemmle. Bring out the chef inside you while whipping up
tantalizing goodies. Your tummy will THANK YOU!!!!

Craft Club: Join craft club and enjoy creating fun winter projects.
Celebrate the season by making snowmen, snowflakes,
and celebrating Valentine’s Day. We will get warm and cozy being creative while it is cold outside

Gator Skin Games:
Don’t let the cold weather slow you down this winter. Sign up for Gator Skins! Students will
participate in a variety of games that will leave them with sweaty heads!!!! They will play games that are cooperative and
competitive and will play at their chosen level of intensity in a safe and fun environment. Students will enjoy some gator ball
games that are not normally played in PE class. These games include Backboard Ball, Trench, Galactic Bombardment, Downer
Ball, Rainstorm, Spider Ball, Competition Castle Ball, Georgia Cone Ball, Dog House, Four Square Pin Ball, and others. Bring an
energy snack, wear your sneakers and be ready to have some healthy fun!

Headband Heaven: If you love fashionable headbands and fabulous mini hats, this is the club for you! We will be
designing and creating our very own hair accessories. Come and discover your inner fashionista with me!!

Mad Science:
Come have fun with all kinds of science experiments. Make snow, crystals, chemical reactions, slime,
exploding soda, and lots more. Many new experiments for my returning scientists!

TUESDAY CLUBS: 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/3
Clay Club: Kids will explore their creativity while learning the craft of ceramics.
They will experiment with a variety of
building techniques while thinking about structure, shapes and forms. All pieces will be glazed and fired for each child to take
home.

The Davis Gang:
You’ve seen the fun toys and games while you’ve been in class-here’s your chance to use them! Come
have fun in Ms. Davis’ room. Do a puppet show, create a sandscape in her sand tray, play with the dollhouse, pretend you’re
the teacher, and lots more. Have a great time with friends while using social skills. Snack provided-who doesn’t love food?

Speak Up!:
A fun way to build confidence whether you are on the stage, in the classroom or just hanging out with friends.
An engaging mix of drama and public speaking for grades 3-5.

THURSDAY CLUBS: 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26, 3/5
Advanced Engineering- This club is for the students that are ready to try more advanced engineering skills.
They will
design and build their own power boat or car. At the end of the club they will get to keep their machine. No experience
necessary. Just a good attitude!

The Davis Crew:

Drama: Lights, Camera, Action!:
Come and experience the art of telling stories through acting and motion. We will
be working on the stage and acting out mini plays. Be ready to put your public speaking skills and acting abilities to the test.
This class is designed for all acting abilities and ages.

Magnificent Manicures Just for Girls:
Do you LOVE to be pampered? Well join us for an incredible Nail Spa Day
every Thursday after school. Your nails will thank you for it and they will look fabulous!!! A new manicure with special nail
design will be done each week for every participant!

Registration for this session ends on January 21st. Classes will begin the week of Jan. 26th.
 Please note: Class size is limited. Students will be enrolled on a first come first serve basis.
 Make checks payable to Coal Mountain Elementary – phone number is required on all checks.
 In the memo line of the check – be sure to include your child’s name and the name of the club.
 A separate check for each club is required.
 Checks & registration forms may be turned in to the homeroom teacher.
 No registration forms will be accepted after January 21st .
 Registration forms without the required fee will be returned.
