Miner Clubs at Coal Mountain Elementary School: Fall 2014
All Miner Clubs will meet from 2:40-3:50 p.m. for six weeks. Please fill out the attached registration form and send payment in
to your child’s teacher. Checks should be made payable to Coal Mountain Elementary and include your child’s name and the
name of the club in the memo section. We are excited there are 13 clubs to choose from (please see the front and back of
this paper). Your child can choose more than one club. Please fill out a separate registration form for each club and
each individual child (if more than one child in family is participating).

Cooking Club—Are you in the mood to make, bake, and/or create?
Join me in the kitchen to tantalize your taste buds as
we “WHIP UP” some yummy recipes! Your tummy will thank you!!

Craft club- Come and make crafts as we celebrate the beginning of fall.
Get your creative juices flowing as we explore
apples, fall leaves, pumpkins, and painting with fall colors. Come and join this club to participate in fun and exciting crafts you
will enjoy.

Electric Detectives- Use cool electronic parts to create an alarm device to find a thief!
Taught by: Mrs. Webb
We will be using LittleBits kits.
Grades 3-5 (Max. 21) Cost: $40 + $10 supply fee Rm. # 102
Gator Skin Games:
The Gator Club gets its name from the Gator Skin brand balls that we use so often in PE class. Students will
participate in a variety of games that will leave them breathing hard and sweating!!!! They will play games that are cooperative and
competitive and will play at their chosen level of intensity in a safe and fun environment. I will let the students vote on which games they
would like to play from week to week. These games include Backboard Ball, Trench, Galactic Bombardment, Downer Ball, Rainstorm, Spider
Ball, Competition Castle Ball, Georgia Cone Ball, Dog House, Four Square Pin Ball, and others. Bring an energy snack, wear your sneakers
and be ready to have some healthy fun!

TUESDAY CLUBS: 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14
American Girl Princess Camp:
Girls and dolls pamper themselves with a spa day, a pajama party, a fashion show and
an ice cream party. Girly fun with your dolls!

Basketball Club- Students will work on skills and drills to improve their game. Each session will conclude with games and
contests. This camp is for all levels.

Clay Club:
Kids will explore their creativity while learning the craft of ceramics. They will experiment with a variety of
building techniques while thinking about structure, shapes and forms. All pieces will be glazed and fired for each child to take
home. Two sessions of the same class will be offered to accommodate all schedules. Choose your day!

Art Room
Drama Club: Drama club will be a time to sharpen up your acting skills. We will be doing Reader’s Theaters as well as short plays.
We will work on voice projections, fluency, and positions during presentations. It will also be a time for fun and creativity!

Lego Club-Calling all builders to the LEGO Club!
If you have a desire to build cool creations then LEGO club is for you. Come
join Mrs. Worley in LEGO club to have a building good time. Your $10 supply fee will be for LEGO surprises.

FRIDAY CLUB: 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/24
Digital Story Telling-This is going to be a blast! Students will work together to write, produce and publish digital stories!
We will be working with various apps and software to find just the right way to tell a digital story! Bring your devices and
cameras and let’s get this story started! Our creations will be posted on the CMES website upon completion!

Registration for this session ends on September 3rd . Classes will begin the week of Sept. 8th .
 Please note: Class size is limited. Students will be enrolled on a first come first serve basis.
 Make checks payable to Coal Mountain Elementary – phone number is required on all checks.
 In the memo line of the check – be sure to include your child’s name and the name of the club.
 A separate check for each club is required.
 Checks & registration forms may be turned in to the homeroom teacher.
 No registration forms will be accepted after September 3rd .
 Registration forms without the required fee will be returned.
