Enduring Understandings The understanding and application of technology related knowledge and skills are essential for success both academically and professionally. Advanced level technology coursework requires solid grounding in fundamental technology skills in and concepts. Effective career planning involves identifying interests, formulating goals, and developing plans for my high school experience and beyond. Applying technology to the problem solving process greatly enhances our ability to develop and evaluate potential solutions. Because little homework is assigned outside of class, on-task behaviors and attitudes in class are essential to success. Mountlake Terrace High School The required performance task for the Technology part of this course will be a Career Unit. The final product which includes career research, a PowerPoint development and presentation must meet standard and is a component for the student’s Portfolio. Materials Each student will need paper, pencils, a blue or black pen and a USB storage device. Each student will be provided computer access (unless lab rules are violated). Assignments are located on-line at the following address: http://moodle.edmonds.wednet.edu Scholarly Responsibility/Attendance Due to the fact that this course is heavily discussion and hands-on based, regular/consistent attendance is crucial to a student’s achievement. Teachers are not required to allow students to make up missed assignments and/or discussions when they have an unexcused absence. Late Work/Make Up Policy All unit work must be completed by the Core Assessment unless special arrangements and/or extensions are agreed upon prior to the due date. Common School Expectations Students are expected to follow all school rules which are stated in the MTHS student handbook and online. Academic Honesty Students are expected to do their own work. The MTHS definition of cheating includes, but is not limited to, copying or lending assignments; communicating, in any way, during a test; using notes in a situation where notes are not acceptable; plagiarism (the intentional or unintentional failure to give clear credit to the author of any word / ideas not your own), in any form (individual / group work). A first offense will result in loss of grade points for the assignment (for all individuals claiming credit) with no possibility of make-up. The parent will be notified and documentation of the incident will be placed in the student's file. A second offense in any class within the same school year may result in a loss of semester credit for the course in which the second offense occurred. Students who turn in undocumented work products, in any form, will be charged with plagiarism. Remember: NOTHING matters more than your honor!
