The Symposium Book of Abstracts will be published. Authors should submit the Abstract
electronically using the following e-mail address: iutam2014@ioc.ee in the pdf format. For deadlines,
see the conference web-pages at http://www.ioc.ee/iutam2014/. The Abstract should be written
following the format described in this file which is available from the conference website. The speaker
and the contact author should match and it is advisable to highlight the speaker in the list of authors in
bold. The Abstract should be written in English within a printing area of 16 cm x 24.7 cm (25 mm
margins on A4 paper). Font size is 11. The Abstract including figures, tables and references should
have a minimum length of 0.5 pages and should not exceed 2 pages.
Mathematical formulas should be centred and the equation numbers placed in the right hand side.
Matrices and vectors should be written in bold, or alternatively vectors can be denoted by an arrow
above the symbol.
In producing Tables clarity should be emphasised. The following simple rules should be respected: (a)
Do not use vertical lines, (b) Do not use double lines, (c) Write the units in the headings of each
column, not inside the tabulated material, (d) Write always something before the decimal dot, (e) Do
not use any kind of “see above”-like phrases.
The Figures should be clear, readable and uniquely defined. In the online version of the Book of
Abstracts colour pictures are possible, but the authors should take into account that the Figures should
be readable also in the print version.
References to cited literature should be identified by numbers either grouped in order of appearance or
using the Harvard style. The citations to papers should be punctuated like [1], to parts of collections –
like [2] and to books – like [3].
