Job Profile

The role is to work in the membership department to assist in all matters
relating to support of the members of the union. To assist other departments
of the union, to provide information about the union’s membership. To also
support and enhance the membership and related systems.
Main Duties & Responsibilities







To support / maintain / enhance and develop the membership systems,
both SB Client and Stratum.
To use databasic to extract membership data as required.
To develop membership reports as required by all departments of the
union.
Use database tools to maintain the membership data and carry out data
cleansing where required.
To amend the input screens and underlying program as specified by the
head of department.
To carry out telephone support on membership IT systems in use within
the Union.
To support the finance system and its links to the membership systems.
General duties
 To maintain the confidentiality of information and abide by the provisions
of the Data Protection Act.
 To undertake all duties with due regard to the union’s equal opportunities
policies.
 To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.
 The post will involve some evening and weekend work as well as possible
travel around the regions.

Person Specification
Shortlisting for interview will be determined on which candidates demonstrate on their
application form who best meets the criteria below. Candidates will need to give strong
evidence in all sections. The examples are given as a guide to candidates about the
kind of evidence they should provide.
Essential Skills:
 The candidate must be conversant with the Rocket database system or any
similar system (e.g. Unidata / U2) and databasic programming. They must
also have knowledge of SB+ development environment. A working knowledge
of Excel is required.
 Good interpersonal skills
 Discretion and the ability to work to a high degree of confidentiality.
 Display a flexible and co-operative approach.
 Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Useful Skills:
 Knowledge of Navision business system would be an advantage. Knowledge
of any scripting language would be useful as would a working knowledge of
web technology
Successful candidates will have a good understanding of trade unions.
Demonstrates a strong interest in working for a progressive trade union in today’s
society.
