Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (“the Trust”) DEPARTMENT: IT JOB TITLE: IT Technician REPORTS TO: Head of IT 1. Job Purpose The IT Technician role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. To also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required. 2. Principal Accountabilities Your duties will require a level of personal organisation and teamwork. You will be required to operate effectively in an environment that is undergoing rapid change and to demonstrate a motivated and proactive approach to your work. General administrative skills will also be needed to undertake the role. A drive to learn and willingness to undertake training is required. 3. Main Duties Provide an IT Helpdesk service to approximately 150 users: Responding to IT requests in a timely fashion according to our internal SLA, providing first level support and advice to end-users Provide technical support for Microsoft Office 2003/2010 and Windows XP and Windows 7 Install PC’s, printers e, Image build systems and related software Assisting in the trouble-shooting of hardware and software User account creation, maintenance and associated security accounts Maintaining an Inventory of IT equipment Maintaining stocks of consumables Booking of loan equipment Liaison with external contractors in the absence of the Head of IT Working with the Head of IT to support the network infrastructure Assisting the Head of IT in the maintenance of the telephone system and conferencing AV equipment Carry out Daily Checks on Internal Systems Printed 06/02/2016 1 of 2 687296013 4. Development 5. Assist the Head of IT in identifying IT training needs of users Work with the Head of IT and external facilitators as appropriate to present basic and refresher IT training for the Trust Willing to undertake internal Systems Training Continuous professional development Knowledge and Skill Essential Knowledge of and competence in the use of Microsoft desktop operating systems Knowledge and experience of Microsoft office 2003 / 2010 Must be willing to develop IT skills Effective written and oral communication General administrative skills Ability to prioritise tasks, to work quickly and accurately Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy Ability to work under pressure and to handle difficult situations Ability to use initiative and judgment Potential to operate effectively in an environment undergoing rapid change Desirable 6.
