GROWTH ENGINES The major growth engines in the Mandal are Paddy and Summer Pulses. During the year 2014-15, Agricultural crops cultivated in 15338 Ha and obtained 65601 MTs of production with a monitor value of 96.91 Crores. For the year 2015-16, area and productivity targets are obtained from the Office of JDA,WestGodavari, Eluru. Targeted area is 15445 Ha, Targeted production is 78743 MTs and targeted monitory value is 115.75 Crores. The targeted growth is 18.41%. ADDITIONAL AREAS Last year cultivation was done in about 15338 Ha. During the year 2015-16 additional area comes in to cultivation is 107 Ha. And an additional acreage of 396 Ha. Summer pulses through crop intensification. VARIETIAL REPLACEMENT Replacing old varieties like MTU 7029 and MTU 1010 with New, High yielding pest and disease resistant varieties like MTU1061, MTU 1064 etc In Pedapadu mandal it is planned to replace 40% (3629)of the total cultivated area. The required quantities seed were already made available through PACS and Private dealers. SOIL HEALTH MANAGEMENT It is proposed to improve the health of soils in the Mandal, duly following the outcome of soil samples analysis. This year 912 samples in an area of 2430 Ha (Being Pedapadu, a Delta Mandal soil sampling done at the rate 1 sample per every 2.5 ha). Unlike previous years, this year we are planning to advice the farmers to apply both Macro and Micro fertilisers (Both the macro and micro nutrients as per the soil test values) the by aimed to reduce a quantity of 425 MTs of chemical fertilisers during this year. In addition, we are aimed to grow Green manure crop in an area of 550 ha. by supplying 165 Qtls of seed. Based on the Soil test results, we identified 60 ha of problematic soils and necessary steps will be taken for suppy of 120 MT of Gypsum for reclamation as per the recommendations. GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES Usage of Neem coated Urea, Non Pesticidal Management (NPM), usage of Bio-fertilizers, Bio-pesticides, further promotion of green manure crop, correction of micronutrients deficiencies for identified crops. (a) Paddy: 1. Direct seeding: We are aimed to popularize direct seeding methods like Broad casting, Drum seeding, Machine planting, SMSRI in order to reduce the cost of cultivation. growth period and to improve yields. Managing the length of 2. Mid-season drainage in Low lying villages like A Vemavaram and Pedapadu. 3. Adjusting sowing dates, thereby forcing the harvest majority area in the district by 31st October in order to escape from the endemic, cyclonic onset. (b) Maize: Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Godavari Lanka Villages. (c) Pulses: Management of Maruca. COST REDUCTION Application of micronutrient judiciously based on soil test values duly considering the application of greenmanuring crop and bio fertilizers etc. Pest Management: Identifying locally available (indigenious) low cost techniques like NPM for cost reduction and also minimizing the chemical pollution. EXTENSION AND CAPACITY BUILDING 1. Polam Pilusthundi: This programme will be organised duly following the schedule & also as per the guide lines given by the Government in order to ensure the transfer of latest technical knowledge to the farmers on time. 2.Chandranna Rythu Kshethralu : These are the model plots organised in the farmers fields in order to demonstrate the latest technical knowledge for better understanding and also adoption. Three villages has been Identified for CRK program. MAO, Pedapadu- Pedapadu. AEO, Pedapadu- kotturu. AEO, Karugorumilli- kalaparru. Identification and active involvement – About 5-6 best adoptive farmers will be selected as master trainers. FARM MECHANIZATION Cost of cultivation can be reduced by using machinery in agriculture, timely operations can be performed, pest and disease incidents will be reduced. Mini SMSRI and ISS units allocation to every village, to active RMG groups. IT APPLICATIONS Enrolment of farmers to m-kisan portal, farm mechanization through mee-seva, fertilizer, pesticides and seed license issuing through OLMS, reliance foundation etc. CONCLUSION Duly adopting the village action plan aimed to ensuring 18.41% double digit growth in the agriculture sector, PEDAPADU MANDAL West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
