Intensification of cropped area by cultivating summer pulses is 850 ha. VARIETIAL REPLACEMENT Replacing the old varieties with new, high yielding pest and disease resistant varieties. Mandal is planned to replace the 30% of the total area. The required quantity of seed is also positioned in the mandal. SOIL HEALTH MANAGEMENT It is proposed to improve the health of soils in the mandal, duly following the outcome of soil sample analysis. This year 937 samples in an area of 2564 Ha ( 1 sample in every 2.5 ha)were targeted to draw, analyse and farmers will be advised to use fertilisers as per soil test values. Unlike previous years, this year we are planning to advice the farmers to apply both the fertilisers (macro and micro nutrients as per the soil test values) the by aimed to reduce the usage of a quantity of 856 MTs of chemical fertilisers during this year. In addition, we are aimed to grow Green manure crop in 700 Ha area by supplying 210 qtls of seed. GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES Usage of neem coated Urea, non pesticidal management (NPM), usage of Biofertilizers, Bio-pesticides, further promotion of green manure crop, correction of micronutrients deficiencies for identified crops. (a) Paddy: 1. Direct seeding: We are aimed to popularize direct seeding methods like broad casting, drum seeding, machine planting, SMSRI in order to reduce the cost of cultivation. Managing the length of growth period and to improve yields. 2. Mid-season drainage in low lying deltaic areas. 3. Adjusting sowing dates, thereby forcing the harvest of major area in the district by 31st October in order to escape from the endemic cyclones. (b) Maize: Zero tillage will be popularised. (c) Pulses: Management of Maruca and Yellow mosaic duly following IPM methods. COST REDUCTION 1.Application of micronutrients judiciously based on soil test values duly considering the application of green manuring crop and bio fertilizers etc. 2.Pest Management: Identifying locally available (indigenious) low cost techniques like NPM for cost reduction and also minimizing the chemical pollution. 3. Popularising the mechanization of all the farm operations. EXTENSION AND CAPACITY BUILDING: 1.Polam Pilusthondi : This programme will be organised duly following the schedule & also as per the guide lines given by the Government in order to ensure the transfer of latest technical knowledge to the farmers on time. 2.Chandranna Rythu Kshethralu : These are the model plots organised in the farmers fields in order to demonstrate the latest technical knowledge for better understanding and also adoption. 3.MPEOs: So far 3 MPEOs were appointed during the 1st phase and notification issued for 164 number of MPEOs whose services will be utilised for better, speedy transfer of technology as and when required. 4.
