Welcome Parents to the 2014/2015 school year at École Banting Middle School.
What is Parent Advisory Council (PAC)?
1. It is the parent voice at the school level
2. All parents and guardians of students in the school are members.
3. As members you may contact the school board, principal, and staff on any matter relating
to the school.
“Parent involvement is neither a quick fix nor a luxury; it is absolutely fundamental to
a healthy system of public education.”
PAC consists of your Executive, your School Planning Council (SPC), and your DPAC
representative (represents the PAC’s voice in various matters). There are also many volunteer
positions filled by our parent community and some are currently vacant. Specifically the PAC
needs to be fill the Secretary’s position on the executive.
Throughout the year workshops and curricular events are supported by the PAC. By providing
the school with your email you will be well informed on the most up to date
educational activities offered at the School, District and Provincial level. In addition
you will receive notice of meetings, parent-education seminars, and events that
support our school. Your information will not be shared with anyone.
The PAC and many volunteers worked very hard last year and with your support we were able to
raise enough money to purchase and sponsor many special events, some of the highlights:

FUNDRAISING AND PAC CONTRIBUTION For the upcoming 2014/2015 school year the Banting PAC will be offering just one fundraiser, the
Entertainment Book.
After numerous discussions and parent feedback with respect to fundraising the PAC has decided
to ask parents to make a per student PAC contribution rather than make continual requests to
participate in various fundraisers.

A recommended amount, by no means an absolute number, could be $30-75 per child. Please
decide for yourself the amount that works best for you and your family. With this contribution
the Parent Advisory Council will be able to continue to provide support and sponsor special
events for our students and school. This is a tax deductable contribution and receipts will be
issued upon request. Please complete the form below and submit with your cheque, made payable
to BANTING MIDDLE SCHOOL. We are asking that all contributions be submitted by
November 19th, 2014.
The PAC will be offering Gift Cards and Movie Passes before the Christmas break solely as a
service to our Parent community.
By supporting our school it benefits the Banting school community and, more importantly, your
children.
