Roma heavy heifers make 158c/kg
A total yarding of 1629 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Prime Sale on
Thursday.
Steers over 550kg sold to 174c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, while steers in the 400550kg earned to 176c/kg and averaged 153c/kg.
J Behrend, Spencerville, Roma, sold Angus steers to 174c/kg for 623kg to return
$1085/head.
RC Business, Yingerbay, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 169c for 595kg to return
$1007.
Heifers over 450kg sold to 158c/kg and averaged 137c/kg, while heifers in the 350450kg sold to 140c/kg and averaged 127c/kg.
T & J York, Hyde Park, Wallumbilla, sold Simmental-cross heifers to 144c for 633kg
to return $913.
W, W, N & B Hartley, Comara, Aramac, sold Charbray heifers to 140c for 503kg to
return $704.
G & L Perkins, Wahcumba, St George, sold Santa-cross heifers to 133c for 502kg to
return $668.
Cows over 500kg peaked at 145c/kg and averaged 127c/kg, while cows in the 400500kg class topped at 130c/kg and averaged 110c/kg. Cows 300-400kg sold to
108c/kg and averaged 82c/kg.
