OUR LADY OF THE MISSION PARISH
SUNDAY 18th October 2015
29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Next Sunday is the 30th Sunday in Ordinary time

Introduction:
For many people, greatness is measured in terms of
the three “P”s – power, possessions and pleasure.
Jesus teaches a new way to glory, the way of humble

Fr Joe writes: Thoughts
It is not just our exterior actions, but also our interior thoughts that determine who we are
before God and before our fellow human beings. Inner attitudes affect our exterior
relationships in subtle ways. Hatred in the heart can colour our actions just as much as
hatred that is explicitly expressed. It is the same with unbridled sexual thoughts and
desires. Even when the thoughts are not acted upon, they begin to change the way we
react to others, as well as the way we spend our mental energies.
Thoughts are powerful realities, and that is why Jesus shows a concern about them. We
become our thoughts, and what we are eventually radiates toward others.
Let us pray: “Lord, heal me at the core of my being that my thoughts may be wholesome
and bring joy to others and to myself. Amen.”

making an effort as a parish to encourage and assist environmentally friendly practices around the parish,
our homes and in our local community. We are making this our ‘mission’ over the next twelve months and
we are inviting you to come along to a meeting 7:30 pm, Wednesday 28th October in the parish hall to share

15. Message From Fr Chris Knapman, Dampier Peninsula Parish: “Last year the generosity of your
parish and the grace of God brought about a Christmas miracle for us here at Beagle Bay. We had the
most wonderful Christmas! I humbly ask whether it is possible for me to impose upon your generosity
again. Your parish made it possible for us to positively drench our little community in Christmas spirit. We
bought presents for the families and children, decorated our churches, and we could also afford to have a
big party for our aboriginal community.” If you would like to donate to this cause, please put your money in
an envelope addressed to Fr Chris Knapman and put it into the 2nd Collection basket or drop it into the
office. Special Appeal Envelopes are available at the Information Table. Thank you.
Stewardship Corner
All discipleship involves mission. The bishops’ pastoral letter on stewardship reminds us, “Every member of the
