SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PROGRAM – DAY
ONE - You are invited to begin a nine-month
journey from October 2014 to June 2015 to
spiritually adopt an unborn child who is at risk of
being killed in abortion. Each month I will forward
to you the article that appears in the Our Lady of
Sorrows Church (Farmington, MI) bulletin
describing the current stage of development for
your adopted baby. Through prayer, you will be
united with the mother of the child who is
considering the decision of abortion. Say this prayer
every day for nine months to save a baby’s life.
Please do not stop praying, even if you miss one
day, one week or one month in the nine-month
period. Prayer is the best weapon to help them.
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg
you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have
spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.” Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
NEED FOR HOME VISIT HELP - The Ozanam
Center is in need of people to make home visits
to assess clients for furniture needs. These visits
only take a few minutes to do when the client is
available. The need is great for those who need
furniture. We try to help all those who need it but
we really need your help. All visits are done with
a minimum of two people. Please pray about this
and if you feel you can help, contact Jim or Cathie
Perusek at 330-467-5762.
A CANCER SPIRITUALITY GROUP - For those
on the cancer journey, those who are facing the
diagnosis of cancer at the present time, or who
have faced the diagnosis in the past, who are
interested in exploring and talking about the
Cancer experience in the context of spirituality.
All Are Welcome! Meetings are twice a month
on the Second and Fourth Thursdays at
RECECYCLING/FUNDRAISING

Dear Parishioners, Alumni, and Friends –
This past week the priests of the Cleveland
Diocese attended a workshop on preaching. The
priesthood is a calling from God, but like all
professions there is room for improvement and/or
updating. Preaching God’s word is a mystery – a
mixture of a human being’s experience and the
working of the Holy Spirit for the good of others.
Persecution of Christians abroad as well as here in
the U.S. is on the rise. In 1571, a naval battle
occurred in Lepanto, Italy between a small ragtag
naval fleet of Catholics and a mighty Turkish navy.
The pope called on Catholics to pray the Rosary and
on October 7th the small fleet prevented an Islamic
invasion of Europe.
Pope St. Pius V made the day a feast in Italy
honoring Our Lady of Victory but in the early
1700s the name was changed to Our Lady of the
Rosary and celebrated by the universal Church. In
recent times, St. Padre Pio would state that the
weapon against evil is the rosary.
When confronted by pure evil, persecution,
and hatred the intercession and protection of the
Blessed Mother is a powerful weapon even today.
Recently I have been reading the writings of
St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153). Here’s what
this saintly abbot, mystic, and doctor of the Church
had to say about the powerful intercession of St.
Mary:
“O you, whoever you are, who feel that in
the tidal wave of this world you are nearer to being
tossed about among the squalls and gales than
treading dry land. In dangers, in hardships…think
of Mary, call out to Mary. With her protecting you,
you will not be afraid. With her leading you, you
will never tire. Her kindness will see you through
to the end.”
(Praises of the BVM, ca. 1125)
REST IN PEACE
Please remember the soul of Kathleen
Lushbaugh and the concerns of her
family as she was buried from this
church this past week.
ST. VINCENT de PAUL BLANKET
SUNDAY - Envelopes are available at the doors
of the church to assist with the purchase of a new
blanket for the homeless. Simply make your
donation and drop it in the collection basket or send
it to the Diocesan office of St. Vincent de Paul.
Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us! For those who
are able, the recitation of the rosary is prayed before
Sunday Mass around 8:40.
The pastoral council will be meeting later
this month. There are a number of concerns people
have expressed and a couple of requests for my
consideration. Please contact our current council
members: Bob and Trish Bozsik, Tony Crookston,
and Sarah Greer.
No School Mass this coming week due to an
In-service Day for the Faculty and Administration.
Peace to you and your household, Fr. Dan
