Welcome to EDMODO! Socially-networking your 21st century classroom to increase engagement, use of technology, and student/teacher academic interactions to develop a cooperative learning environment. Create a page: Using your school email, sign up for an account. Once you have an account set up, your page will look something like this: Organize wall by topic for quick references. Check notifications at a glance. Connect to other teachers/classes on Edmodo. Create groups and subgroups for easy class interactions and group work. Join communities to share resources with other teachers. Tag topics of interest for quick look-up. Note the available features on this page. Keep up with current activity using your wall. We will discuss your posting options on the next pages. Go ahead and take a minute to set up your class groups. Use Edmodo's mobile APPS with your tablet, smart phone/android phone, or iPod touch with mobile capacity. Have notifications sent to your cell phone via text messages to stay in touch with your Edmodo page anytime. POSTING OPTIONS AVAILABLE ON YOUR HOME PAGE: NOTES: * Use notes to communicate with classes as a whole or with individual students. ALERTS: * Great for one-on-one tutoring help, make-up assignments, and general comments. ALERTS: * Use alerts to remind students of upcoming tests/projects and/or important things to remember. * Great for encouraging students to use summarizing skills as they are only allowed 140 characters per alert. (Sort of like a TWEET.) ASSIGNMENTS: * Use the assignments option to post a variety of assignments: web quests, online activities/tests, worksheets, essays, etc. Set due dates, points possible, and send to whole classes or individual students. Great for turning in work, early finisher lab assignments, and makeup work. QUIZZES: Choose create a quiz to work on quizzes or start one and load it whenever you are ready to use it. TO CREATE A QUIZ: 1) Choose the type of question you would like to create. 2) Insert a prompt from a worksheet, bank, or create your own. 3) Set correct responses and number of responses. 4) Add questions as needed. Type may vary from question to question. 5) Choose a time limit if necessary. 6) Opt to have students view quiz results immediately. (Constructed responses will not be counted.) 7) Assign quiz at that moment or save for later use. Quizzes are great for post computer lab work activities, quick checks for understanding, and at home assignments. You could even give an open-resource test from home or in TLC using this feature. POLLS: Create polls to be used as early finisher assignments, class feedback on assignments/tests/projects, or as a piece of a larger assignment. OTHER FEATURES: Library (Book bags for Students) - create folders you can keep private or share with students that include handouts, important links, or assignments. Calendar - List important dates, upcoming assignments/events, and due dates for students to reference. Color coded by class for easy reading. Badges- Create and award badges to students/classes for excellent work, achievements, encouragement, or just for fun.
