Fact Sheet: Preparing your Organisations
Fund EOI application
1. OBJECTIVES: Does your EOI application address the overall Fund objectives?
Your EOI application should demonstrate how your organisation contributes to addressing
the overall Fund objectives, including:
 a leading group of arts organisations with demonstrated public value.
 delivering diverse, high-quality arts products and services for and from
Queensland.
 strong partnerships and connections with broader industries, communities and
business.
 employment and promotion of Queensland artists and arts workers.
2. CRITERIA: Does your EOI application respond to all the Fund criteria?
Your EOI application will be assessed against each of the following four key fund criteria:
 quality
 reach
 impact
 viability
Refer to the Fund Guidelines for each criteria definition and access our Arts Acumen
Selection Criteria Toolkit for more information about how to effectively respond to selection
criteria.
3. CLARITY: Is your EOI application clear and concise?
Your EOI application requires specific statements and responses including a Key
Achievements Summary, Delivery Statement and Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy (VACS)
Statement (if applicable). These should be written in clear and simple language, avoiding
jargon and acronyms, and remain within specific word limits. Use headings and dot points to
make it easier for the Organisations Fund Assessment Panel to understand the quality and
value of your work.
4. EVIDENCE: Does your EOI application include evidence of your performance and
achievements?
Demonstrate your organisation’s experience and capacity by using research, data and
statistics throughout your EOI application to support your achievement and delivery
statements. Good quality video of previous work easily accessed via YouTube or Vimeo
links, is also an effective way to demonstrate the nature and quality of your work.
5. BUDGET: Is your indicative funding request accurate and realistic?
In determining an indicative funding request, you will need to consider the breakdown of
costs for marketing, program, infrastructure and staff expenses against your projected
income from various revenue sources, for example, earned income, sponsorship,
philanthropy and/or government grants. The amount of funding requested should be
commensurate with the size of your organisation, its level of activity and its stage of the life
cycle.

Marketing – demonstrate sufficient funds have been allocated to cover contracted
personnel and marketing materials (printed and online).

Program - costs related to the delivery of performances, exhibitions, training and
workshops, including venue hire, staging, travel, touring, production, publications,
evaluation and research costs.

Infrastructure or administration costs - expenses incurred in controlling or directing
an organisation, for example, office rent, consumable resources, communications,
insurance, legal, finance and governance.

Philanthropy, sponsorship and other funding – confirmed funding from other
sources will make your application more competitive and even modest cash or in-kind
contributions provide evidence that others see value in your organisation. The more
diverse (and realistic) your income sources, the more competitive your application will
be. Only confirmed funding from additional sources should be included in the funding
request breakdown.
6. PROOFING: Have you proof read your EOI application?
Ensure you proof read your document or ask a colleague to check it over for typos,
grammatical errors or budget inconsistencies. If a person reading your EOI application had
never heard of your organisation, would they have a clear understanding of what you intend
to do and why?
Arts Queensland, through our Arts Acumen initiative, has a range of tools and
templates available to support funding applications.
