No roll call conducted. The following persons were present:

III. Old Business
A. Title Committee- Brittany Garrett discussed the steps needed to be followed to
procure director title for Prof Mathis.
1. Student Forum- The title committee will need to present our case before
CFCC’s Dean and the board at the next Student Forum. Brittany has sent an email
to find out when the next forum will be. The only alternative would be to present
our proposal to the Dean, but would be unable to have the board in attendance
also.
2. Proposal- A presentation is not needed, but the committee will need to
establish how procuring a title for Prof Mathis benefits the Honors Program
students. Attendants discussed benefits:

College applications: legitimacy of program currently questionable since
there is not a direct head named.

CFCC community: formally establish the program within Cape Fear
B. T-shirt update: Andrew Wishon relayed that he had made some headway regarding
Honors Club T-shirt purchase. An email was finally answered and Andrew was given
three names to contact.
C. College Tour- Kat Andre discussed the final details for next week’s college tour.
1. Meeting location: We will be parking and departing from the lot behind the S
building at 7:15 am. Parking permits will need to be shown to the guard at the
blue shack.
2. Packing limitation: Nine people are traveling in a twelve passenger van. Pack
sparingly.
3. Navigator: Someone will need to volunteer to sit up front and assist with
navigation.
4. Room assignments: Room 1- Ian, Vaughn & Andrew; Room 2- Brittany G &
Summer; Room 3- Kat, Kasey and Candice.
IV. New business
A. SGA report- Randy Kerr addressed some of the topics discussed at the SGA
meeting.
1. College Study Tour (Ireland)- There is a short 9-12 day study trip to Ireland
organized for May 18th. The trip price of $2594 includes round trip flight, full
time tour director, land transportation, hotel accommodations, light breakfast
daily and four local dinners. There is a $100 non-refundable deposit fee and the
remaining balance is divided into monthly payments of $313. There are only 4-5
seats left so if interested notify Autumn McGimsey: 910-362-7132,
amcgimsey@cfcc.edu, office located at S-317C.
.
2. National Community College Aerospace Scholars- Students interested in
scientific, technological, mathematical or engineering careers are given the
opportunity to work at NASA. Benefits include networking and scholarship
possibilities. For more information and to apply go to
http://ncas.aerospacescholars.org
B. Meeting schedule- Randy Kerr suggested we establish a new schedule for the Spring
term as to not conflict with SGA’s meetings. Once a new schedule is determined, it
will be sent to Mr. Hufham so it can be posted on the SGA calendar.

Motion to address meeting time preferences at orientation- proposed
by Vaughn Rizzo and seconded by Kat Andre; approved in favor at 4:17p
V. Open Floor
A. Spring orientation- Will be held January 7, 10-2p. Catering suggestions:
Jimmie John’s or Chic-fil-a.
B. Events/Recruiting committee- The Honor’s Program currently does not have
any presence at new student orientations. Randy Kerr suggested we put together a
committee to research CFCC events like orientations and Fall Fest so new
students can be recruited into the program. This committee can also look into
finding possible candidates from the North Campus.
VI. Adjournment
Randy Kerr adjourned the meeting at 4:25 pm.
