SGA General Assembly Meeting
Minutes
January 28, 2013
Call to Order:
Jamir Jumoke called the meeting to order at 4:05pm.
Attendance:
Chris Libert (Advisor), Jamir Jumoke (President), Gary Jones (Vice-President), Courtney Hull (Secretary),
Rebecca Stutts (Treasurer), Samantha Fredrickson (Culinary Club), Justin Serrano, Matthew Ouellette
(Green Building Club), Shawntel Jackson, Claude Jarman (VP Criminal Justice Club), Katie French (SOTA),
Megan Carpenter (Student Senate), Yoel Del Rio (Student Senate), Allisha LaGrange, Amanda Harrington
(Sonography), Autumn Brink, Jolene Igaya, Daniel Muldrow (3MP), Waleed Jerrod, Warren Holt (Nuclear
Technology), Katherine Estep, and Shanice McLean.
President’s Report:
Jamir announced that SGA elections for the upcoming year will take place around Spring Fling. In an
effort to promote school spirit, SGA is entertaining ideas from students and faculty for events that can
be used to promote greater involvement with campus athletics and other campus-wide events. CFCC’s
1st ever Homecoming “Tailgate Party” will be hosted outside the Schwartz Center from 5-6:30pm on
February 1st. There will be entertainment, free food, and BINGO hosted by the CFCC Alumni Association
with the CFCC Foundation. Volunteers are needed for the Tailgate Party. Please see Megan Carpenter.
D.C. Virgo School has created a Student Council! SGA plans to invite those students to our campus for a
tour and to sit in on our meeting in February. More details will be forthcoming about this great event!
10 cases of sodas were donated to Early Bread Ministries on behalf of the CFCC SGA. Early Bread
Ministries offers a weekly meal service to those in need. The SGA will be scheduling another opportunity
to assist in this service. Date and time will be announced when they become available.
Vice-President’s Report:
Gary Jones spoke about the need for student involvement on the school level as well as the state level at
conferences.
Secretary’s Report:
Courtney Hull spoke about the Green Initiative. She expects to have a report for the delegation by the
next General Assembly Meeting. Also, the CFCC SGA will be participating in the Homecoming Banner
Competition. All those interested in helping should see Megan Carpenter.
Treasurer’s Report:
Rebecca Stutts spoke about our upcoming N4CSGA Conferences. Information on these events is listed
later in the minutes. She also advised WAVE passengers of the new changes to the bus schedule. Please

schedules.
New Senators:
Warren Holt and Samantha Fredrickson were sworn in by Jamir Jumoke as CFCC SGA Student Senators.
Welcome to the team!!!
SGA Public Information Officer:
The Executive Council chose two students to serve as Public Information Officers for our Organization.
Yoel Del Rio will serve on the promotions side of things and Megan Carpenter will serve as a
organizational/communications liaison. Megan and Yoel also were re-sworn as PIO Officers. Welcome!!
We are excited to have you on the team!!
Campus Conservation Nationals:
Matthew Ouellette of the Green Building Club spoke to the delegation about CFCC’s involvement in the
upcoming USGBC’s Campus Conservation Competition. The school will compete on the national level
with other institutions in the areas of energy and water conservation. The GBC also hopes to gain
valuable information for the school in an effort to promote future conservation. Also, they hope to raise
awareness on the need for conservation. The test sites will be the McKeithan Center at North Campus
and the L-Building (Health Sciences) on the downtown campus. Stay tuned for details on how you can
help CFCC and the GBC in this competition!
Old Business:
Hand Sanitizers on campus:
Rebecca spoke with Kim Lawing, Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, regarding
the need for more hand sanitizers on the North Campus and fixing those downtown. Flu season is here!
WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!
North Campus ATM:
It appears that this project will happen. Rebecca meets with Dr. Spring, President of
CFCC, January 31, 2013 to get an update. Placement of the machine seems to be the issue.
Developmental Math:
Dr. Amanda Lee, Vice-President of Instruction, is currently collecting data from the fall
semester to gauge success rates. Administrators will adapt the program based on the findings at the end
of the year if necessary.
New Business:
Community Service Projects: Senators will take a greater role in the planning and execution of
said projects.
“Jeans for Teens”- Gary Jones to assist with organizing the project.
No Toiletry Drive. We will instead provide help at a meal service for Early Bread
Ministries.
Azalea Festival- Information forthcoming on events and volunteer needs.
Works on Wilmington- Scheduled April 21, 2013. Location and time TBA. Please mark
your calendar as plenty of volunteers will be needed!
Wave Transit:
A student expressed concern for the location of the North Campus stop. She was
advised to contact WAVE Transit directly as they are the authority on this matter.
Conferences:
Eastern Division Meeting
Saturday, March 2, 2013. Time not yet announced. All those interested in attending should
contact Courtney Hull no later than February 22, 2013. Chris Libert will need a head count for
transportation purposes. You may reach Courtney at cdhull685@mail.cfcc.edu for more information.
N4CSGA Spring Conference
Durham, NC at the Sheraton Imperial April 5-7, 2013. Space is limited for this conference. Space
will be reserved for the Executive Council and SGA Senators only.
Club Announcements:
Criminal Justice Club
Current plans include a benefit walk for wounded/fallen officers in the line of duty. Also,
the club is participating in sending sympathy cards to these officers and their families.
CFCC Bball game Saturday, February 2. First Responders get in free.
SOTA
Candy/Chocolate Sale, 9-1 Downtown Cafeteria, February 14.
Polar Plunge/5K to benefit Special Olympics, February 23
The Flying Pig (Culinary Club)
Valentine Raffle, Tix $5, Great Prizes. Drawing to be held Feb. 8. See Samantha

New Clubs:
The SGA would like to welcome the Criminal Justice, French, and Multi-cultural Clubs to the campus. We
look forward to working with you all! Welcome!
Next Meeting:
Our next General Assembly Meeting will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 4pm in L-107
(Downtown).
