1. Interview
The CBC is putting together a
follow up documentary about the
“Important figures of the War of
1812 and you have been asked to
conduct one of the interviews.”
Instructions:
Choose 1 of the following
“important figures” of the War of
1812:
- Laura Secord
- Major-General Isaac Brock
- James FitzGibbon
- Tecumseh
Write an interview to submit to
CBC. Your interview must include:
- The name of the interviewer
(reporter)
- The name of the important
figure you chose
- Interview Questions and
Answers / Responses from
the important figure

Part 2 Moving to Canada
Instructions: Choose one of the projects
below to complete for part 2.
1. The Great Migration
Instructions:
Imagine you and your family are
immigrating to British North America
(Canada) during The Great Migration.
Write a diary or journal entry about your
journey. Your diary / journal entry must
include:
- Date for your journal entry?
- Where you are moving from?
- Why your family is leaving your
home / immigrating to Canada?
- What your journey is like on the
“Coffin Ship” (include how long your
journey is taking)?
- What happens to you and your
family when you arrive in the
Maritimes (do you end up in a
Quarantine station? Do others who
have travelled with you?)
- What are you hoping for in Canada?
Use your textbook and notes to gather
information about the Great Migration.
You can also look on the internet for
additional information.

2. Poster / Collage
The Provincial Government is
updating the Royal Alberta Museum
with an exhibit dedicated to the War
of 1812. You have been asked to
make a contribution.
Instructions:
Design a poster or collage about one
of the following “important figures” of
the War of 1812:
- Laura Secord
- Major-General Isaac Brock
- James FitzGibbon
- Tecumseh
Your poster should include:
- A creative title
- The person’s name
- If you make a collage – include
pictures of the person and
events he / she was involved in
during the War of 1812
Write a biography (no more than one
page) about the individual you have
chosen.
Your biography should
include:
- information about the individual
(who he / she was)
- the description of his / her role
in the War of 1812 (what he /
she did).

2. The Loyalists (presentation)
The Provincial Government is updating the
Royal Alberta Museum with an exhibit
dedicated to Immigration to Canada. You
have been asked to make a contribution.
Instructions:
Design a poster presentation, power point
presentation, or a prezi about The United
Empire Loyalists.
Your presentation MUST include:
- Who the Loyalists were?
- How Loyalists were treated by
Americans?
- Where Loyalists moved to?
- Why Loyalists came to Canada?
- How Loyalists (who moved to
Canada) impacted Canada?
Your presentation should include
- A creative title
- Variety of pictures that show what
Loyalists lives were like
- Point form notes answering the
questions above
- A creative layout
Use your textbook and notes to gather
information about the United Empire
Loyalists. You can also look on the internet
for additional information.
