 OBJECTIVE: Skeletal System
 IN: Describe how the skeletal system benefits each system in the body.(page 182) Muscular: provides calcium needed for normal muscle
contraction; bones act as levers to produce body movements; Integumentary: Provides structural support; Nervous: Provides calcium for neural
functions, protects brain, spinal cord ; Endocrine: protects endocrine organs especially in brain, chest, and pelvic cavity; Respiratory: movements
of the ribs important for breathing; protects lungs; Cardiovascular: provides calcium needed for cardiac muscle contraction, blood cells produced
in bone marrow; Urinary: provides some protection for kidneys and ureters, urinary bladder and proximal urethra; Reproductive: Pelvis protects
female organs, portion of ductus deferens, and accessory glands in males; Lymphatic: Produces and stores lymphocytes and other cells of the
immune response.; Digestive: Ribs protect portions of liver, stomach, and intestines.

 LESSON FORMAT: Complete assignment about skeletal system; each group is to come up with a poem, rap, song, or etc. that describes as
much as the skeletal system as they can.
 ASSIGNMENT: Present group product; complete joint chart

 OUT: Explain the importance of synovial fluid in a joint. It provides lubrication that reduces friction between the moving surfaces in the

 LESSON FORMAT: Complete study cards for skeletal system
 ASSIGNMENT: Complete joint activity-cut out and create a paper version of joints
