HOMEROOM PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES Our teachers work very hard each and every day with our students and can always need a helping hand. At Citrus Park Elementary, we seek parents to help out in the each of our classrooms throughout the school year. The responsibility of the Homeroom Parent is to be the liaison with the teacher and the other parents in the classroom throughout the year. Homeroom Parents help organize classroom activities and assist the teacher with classroom needs throughout the school year. 1. Have Initial Contact with the Teacher. Meet with them one on one and talk with the teacher to find out their needs for the upcoming school year. (Examples: Fall Fest, Winter Celebration, Spring Carnival, End of Year Events, Classroom Projects, Field Trip Reminders, to name a few) 2. Send a correspondence out to the other parents in the class. Introduce yourself as the Homeroom Parent, overview of the exciting year’s classroom festivities and provide them with a phone number or email to contact you with any questions. 3. Provide Sign Up Sheets for events throughout the year providing all parents in the class an opportunity to participate in their child’s classroom should they be interested. 4. Help get the class and parents involved in Teacher Appreciation Week or Holiday Gifts for your Teacher. Arrange something special or raise funds for a teacher gift, fruit bouquet or anything that will make the teacher feel special. Please be conservative in your requests (maximum of $10.00 per student throughout the school year for monetary donation). 5. Homeroom Parent may wish to collect email addresses of other classroom parents to distribute monthly reminders such as picture day, family nights, crazy sock day and more If you have any questions regarding homeroom parent responsibilities, please contact Heather Tyler, PTA President at Citrusparkpta2014@gmail.com. Please note that all correspondence to parents must be approved by your students teacher. JUST A FEW THINGS HOMEROOM PARENTS CAN ASSIST WITH EACH MONTH October: Story Book Parade!!!
