Essay Prompt – PHC Alumni Association Tuition Scholarship 2012
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Eligibility: Any full-time student (including “Campus @ Home” students) with applicable tuition
expenses who will return to PHC for Fall 2012. Students with a full tuition waiver are not
eligible.
Length: 1,000 words maximum.

Essays are graded on their mechanics, logic, rhetorical effect, and development of topic.
Prompt: According to college information, 80% of Patrick Henry College students have been
educated at home prior to coming to the college. Moreover, the college maintains a very close
relationship with the homeschool movement. What are some positive and negative ways this
relationship of the school has affected you as a student at PHC? How do you think it will affect
you after graduating, as you transition to the next phase in your life in the workforce,
government, culture, and the home?
