Just to keep you informed, as of October 30, 2015, here is a brief synopsis of things being worked
on/or accomplished in your City.
Administrative Services:
 Attended a session on Elections at the Florida Association of Clerks Fall Conference.
 Attended the FCCMA Leadership Training in which Carl was a panel member.
 I attended the Advisory Council of SWFL for ADA with John Gucciardo as the first step in
transitioning the ADA Coordinator responsibilities to me.
 Lyann Martinez started as the new Receptionist and was trained by Charlen.
 Lyann had 74 calls and 26 walk-ins from October 19th – 23rd.
 Karen Davis had 307 calls and 141 walk-ins from September 29th – October 26th.
 Charlen Wade has taken over as the Clerk for the Zoning Board and handled her first
meeting independently.
 Provided flu shots to the employees on October 29th - 26 employees participated.
 Met with Ron Peters and Chaz Smith with the Risk/Safety Department of the Florida
League of Cities (FLC) to discuss our risk and training needs.
 Jessica Snipes started as a new PT Lifeguard at the Community Pool.
 City has four (4) positions currently open and accepting applications; Community
Relations Specialist, Senior Admin Assistant – Communications, Senior Admin Assistant –
Parks and Rec, and Support Technician – Communications.
 Attended a webinar regarding the proposed changes to the Overtime Regulations from
the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division.
City Manager’s Office:
 Attended the groundbreaking of WCI’s Altaira at The Colony Golf and Bay Club
Community.
 Attended and participated in a meeting regarding a new traffic signal at US 41 & Limetree
Park and North Bay Drive.
 Attended and participated in a meeting between the City, Fire Department and BSU for a
MOU for plans and permit review to be business friendly.
 Was invited as speaker at the Mortgage Bankers Association of Southwest Florida
luncheon meeting, where I spoke regarding what is happening on Old 41 in the Downtown
Redevelopment Area.
 Was a panelist at Florida Gulf Coast University for their FCCMA leadership training course.
Most all City Directors were in attendance.
 Met with Don Eslick and a Village Member of Estero to talk about items of mutual
interest.
 Attended the Open House at Special Coatings USA where there was a demonstration of
the SC Coater.

 Attended the monthly meeting of the ADA Advisory Council of Southwest Florida, along
with Meg Weiss in order to introduce her as the next ADA Coordinator for the City once
the anticipated transition period concludes. These meetings serve as a productive forum
for the exchange of ideas and concerns as the city addresses all potential ADA related
issues.
 Attended the October meetings of the county-wide Emergency Partners and Disaster
Advisory Council as coordinated by the County EOC staff. Main focus of the upcoming year
will be the mandated updating of the county-side Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) which
makes up a big portion of our integrated Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan
(CEMP)
 Attended, along with Vice-Mayor McIntosh, a BOCC Strategic Planning Session in Fort
Myers. The purpose of this meeting was to show solidarity with the other municipalities
relative to concerns about how the county currently approaches its’ decisions that may
have direct or indirect impacts on the municipalities.
 Completed the last of the Unpaved Private Roads paving projects on Marlin Lane. Once a
final invoice has been received and payment made, we will be supplying Council with a 3
year summary of the program as well as with an update on the continuation of a private
paving program with financial participation only from the City.

Web/Social Media:
 Held E-bid Software Configuration Meeting with IT, Public Works and Finance.
 Held Communications Department Meeting.
 Met with City Manager and NBC Reporter Brittany Weiner to discuss media relations.
 Designed an ad for South West Florida Business Magazine.
 Met with Halloween in the Park Organizer to review upcoming event/detour.
 Met with Park staff to review RiverFest Event and discuss needs for Phase 1 event
signage due to detour.
Development Services:
 Community Development has received a rezoning application encompassing the entire
former Weeks Fish Camp property.
 Bonita National: Bonita National residential community (500 acres) is continuing to
proceed at a brisk pace. In total the first residential phase includes 93 single family
homes and 60 coach homes, of which roughly 85% are either under construction or
completed. Phase 2 expands the offering of multi-family products to include 4-story
Terrace buildings and 2-story Veranda buildings. It includes a total of 366 multi-family
homes, along with 12 single family estate home sites. Construction of this 2nd phase
has continued throughout the year. Phase 3, which will consist of 118 single-family
home sites will begin before the end of the year.

American House: Phase 3 of AH is under construction with an opening planned for fall of 2016.
This 3rd building consist of 88 senior units.
Diamond Oaks: Clearing the site and installing silt fencing for this up has started for this 55 plus
community. Demo of ship scheduled for November 13.
Paloma: Phase 4 has started construction and Plat will be recorded shortly.

Altaria: Currently under construction, construction completion target date is July 2017.
Finance:
 Completing required Public Depositor Annual Report to the Chief Financial Officer.
 Preparing training materials for City staff on the Purchasing Policy and operating
Procedures.
 Planning for training on the financial statement software.
Drafting a comprehensive Financial Policy.
 Completing year-end process and preparing for the annual audit.
 Drafting a purchasing guide for vendors who want to do business with the City.
 On-going contract monitoring.
LCSO:
 Traffic Operation at Bonita National Boulevard.
 Meeting with Frank Cassidy reference inspection sweep.
 Attended local business DeRoma’s anniversary event.
 Attended and provided security for City Council Meeting.
 Attended Bonita Middle School Fall Festival.
 Attended and provided security for city of Bonita Springs Fall Festival.
 Attended fundraiser at American Legion Post 303 for Damian Creed.
 Conducted a prior walk-thru for Bonita’s Fall Festival.
 ATV Patrol in East Bonita, reference Bear Hunts.
 Conducted several follow-ups to past occurred crimes in the city of Bonita Springs.
 Traffic Operation on Hickory Blvd. and Beach Accesses.
 Traffic Operation on Woods Edge.
 Traffic Operation on S. Tamiami Trail and Bonita Beach Road.

 Attended and supervised JAM Car Wash for juveniles needing community service.
 Burglary Suppression Operation on Walden Center, reference past occurred business
burglaries in the area.
 Burglary Suppression Operation on beach and beach accesses reference vehicle
burglaries and school being out on Monday and Tuesday.
Neighborhood Services:
 Director, Peggy, and Albert attended and staffed an outreach table at the Riverfestseveral surveys were filled out, craft masks were given away to children who “won”
games at the table, and information/education was shared with the community.
 Alana staffed an informational table for TNR at the Riverfest.
 Neighborhood Services hosted the monthly resource Task Force Meeting.
 Director attended as a presenter the annual American Association of Code Enforcement
Conference held in Orlando. He presented a session on Officer Safety and situational
awareness.
 Director attended the Emergency operations center Geo division exercise.
 Director attended the Community Development Planning and Zoning meeting.
 Two properties were awarded the “Keep the Beautiful in Bonita” award –
 Paulino Nieto of 11243 Tango, Leitner creek- Not only is this property a model for
the community, the work Mr. Nieto has done on his property has inspired four
other properties in the immediate area to improve their appearance.
 Lisa Girardi of 10960 Tangelo Ter., off Matheson- the condition of this property
sets a standard for the entire block!
Both properties received a certificate from Neighborhood Services, a free plant, and are
proudly displaying a yard sign identifying their property as an award winner!

Parks & Rec:
 Park staff working with Tuffy oil change center for mowing of property lines.
 Hans Wilson and Associates is moving forward with bid documents for the River Park
fishing platform which is funded by Lee County TDC.
 Working on new design plan for the Riverside Park dock to be replaced with a
canoe/kayak launch.
 Held evaluation meetings with Park staff for mid-year performance evaluation reviews.
 Staff are working on installing new safety netting and fencing in Community Park for the
baseball fields and outdoor pavilion.
 Please welcome our new part time lifeguard Jessica Sipes to our Parks and Recreation
department team.
 Met with the president of the Bonita Springs Little League board for the upcoming little
league season and discussion of the Little League agreement with the City of Bonita
Springs.
 Park staff assisted with the Riverfest Event.

 Continue working with Lee County CDBG staff for funding of the Mayhood property
playground as well as the Community Park playground.
 Working with Wright Construction for Asbestos abatement for Community Hall.
 Attended the Leadership Bonita Education Day.
 Certification inspections by the FFL were held on October 17 th for Community Park,
River Park, Leitner Neighborhood Park, Dog Park and Riverside Park have all received
Gold level certification.
 The Riverside Park Bandshell re-sod is now complete.
 Annual Fire Inspections were completed this week at the Community Pool and
Recreation Center.
Public Works:
 Downtown Improvement Project: Construction continues. Installed 4 groundwater
monitoring wells, took samples (See Photo) for analysis. Held conference call with
South Florida Water Management District to discuss easing of 1,000 FT dewatering
prohibition once the results of the monitor well samples are received and reviewed.
Continued to work on installation of BSU waterline from Reynolds to Childers Streets
(See Photo). Asphalt milling is scheduled to begin on Old 41 starting 11/3. Drainage
structures, and associated piping that do not require dewatering will begin to be
installed the week of 11/2. The Wright team has been in continuous contact with the
DEP and SFWMD regarding the Underground Storage Tanks, all parties are in a holding
pattern until the groundwater tests results come back. They are expected no later than
11/3.
 Landscaping US 41: Continued to install median plantings and irrigation on US 41.
 Unpaved Roads: Paved Marlin Lane (See Photo).
 Felts Ave Bioreactor: Submitted Grant progress report to the Department of
Environmental Protection.
 Shangri-La Rd & Imperial Signalization: received bid proposals for the installation of a
traffic signal at the intersection of Shangri-La Road and Imperial Parkway.
 Shangri-La Road Median Plantings: Obtained three quotes for the installation of
landscaping on the Shangri-La Road median.
