Just to keep you informed, as of April 10, 2015, here is a brief synopsis of things being worked on/or accomplished in your City. City Manager’s Office Attended the Wright Construction/Downtown Improvements 60% workshop at the Community Center. Presented and update to the Government Affairs Committee Meeting at the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce. Participated in a meeting with Deputy Mayor McIntosh and others to discuss the nomination and selection process for the new Bonita Springs Hometown Heroes Award. Attended the Relay for Life chicken and ribs luncheon at BSU. Attended the progress update for South Lee Health Development at the Bonita Community Health Center. The City of Bonita Springs was a platinum sponsor for the 2015 Market Outlook at the FGCU Cohen Center. Deputy Mayor McIntosh and staff was in attendance. Met with Bonita Springs Wonder Gardens to finalize questions prior to closing on Monday, April 13th. Met with staff and Wright Construction to review Old 41 plans. Held phone conference with Izzy Havernick regarding gaming legislation. Met with residents of Forest Mere about security concerns. Reviewed Communications Department updates with Lora and Patrick. Met with business owner relative to their concerns about placement of new Lee Tran Bus Shelter in order to move forward with finalization of proposed compromise settlement first communicated to Council at their April 1st meeting. Met with County staff and 2020 Program advisory group relative to the potential purchase of Battista Island within the City of Bonita Springs, as well as to learn more about proposed expansion or re-interpretation of current program guidelines and criteria. Began the process of finalization of “Goals” for the April 2015 to April 2016 time period for I.T., Public Works, and Code Enforcement Department Heads. Code Enforcement: Director attended Market Outlook at FGCU. Code Outreach Coordinator Peggy Douglas spoke with various community groups and organizers in preparation for participation in this weekend’s event in Rosemary Parkour first Bonita Building Blocks event. Director and Officer Villanueva met with Community Department and property owners on Bonita Beach Rd and Old 41 regarding a new plan for improvements to the property involving parking, dumpster enclosure, and new signs. Worked with News Press, Bonita Banner and Naples Daily News on stories covering Celebrate Bonita. Released: Memorial Day Press Release. Web/Social Media: Presented research for See, Click, Fix Application. Put in a request for google map to revise Riverside Park address. Promotions for Memorial Day Service. Development Services: Cordera on Imperial – DR Horton, the home builder/developer of Cordera has plans to open models to the public early next month. Several 6 plex buildings are under construction including a brick paved front entry way and a small amenity center. d:\106750067.doc4 Highland Woods Clubhouse Expansion- Staff is currently reviewing plans to enclose the existing clubhouse patio, enlarge the cart barn and construct a fitness facility. Center of Bonita – Staff is working with the contractor to agree on façade changes to the Old Publix. Renovation permits for the interior of the new Crunch Fitness have been approved. The Old Garden Center at the north end will soon be demolished to make room for a new NCH structure and modified parking area. Bonita National – Many Single Family and Multifamily homes are currently under construction. New residents have started to move in this Golf Course Community. The golf course maintenance building and gate house are near completion. Phase 3 development plans are under review by staff. d:\106750067.doc5 Bonita Landing- Staff is currently reviewing a Development Order Plans for this new single family Lennar Community consisting of 227 single family lots on 104 acres. American House - Developer plans to open the Phase 1 and 2 Building this month. The extension of Longfellow has been completed and the turn lane open at Imperial Parkway. d:\106750067.doc6 Bay Landing Memory Care- Staff is currently reviewing the plans for an 80 bed Memory Care Facility in north Bonita. An LDO has been approved to start clearing a portion of the land. Finance: Completed the process of drafting the Audited Financial Statements. The report will be released to City Council in April 2015. Preparing for the reporting process for the Audit Report. d:\106750067.doc7 Training continues for our new Accounting Technician, Melissa Stout. Prepared and submitted the Florida Department of Transportation Financial Report Began preparations for the 2015-2016 budget cycle. Developed dates for the budget workshop and hearings. Preparing departmental budget packets which enables the departments to gather data for their 2015-2016 budget requests. Met with Public Works and Parks and Rec for Capital Project Carryover discussions. Began drafting the Capital Carryover budget amendment. Discussed/reviewed signatory authority limits with Senior Staff for use in the second phase of our new software implementation. LCSO: Assisted with several narcotics investigations. Traffic Operation on Pennsylvania Avenue. Assisted with Burglary Search Warrant on Cherry Street. Attended City Council. Beach Patrol. Attended meeting with Lora Taylor reference Celebrate Bonita. Followed up with several burglary investigations. Traffic Operation on Windsor Drive. Parks & Rec: Park staff assisted in the annual Celebrate Bonita event. Interviews were held for the Maintenance Specialist position with Timothy Hippensteel chosen for the position. His start date will be Monday April 27 th. Met with Kristina Baller for capital carryover projects for the upcoming budget. Drainage project for the Old Recreation Center is underway. The front section of the building had some flooding issues. Completed a successful Spring Break Camp for Lee County School children. Completed a draft of the Non-motorized vessel permitting and regulations under review and will be brought to Council soon. The Fountain at the Liles Hotel had a broken filter pump. It has been replaced and is working properly. The water will take a few days to clear up. Met with Hans Wilson for fishing platform TDC project for River Park. Bid documents and plans are currently underway. Received a request from a Jehovah’s Witness group to set up an information stand at the Dog Park. After review by the City Attorney, this is allowable as long as they do not solicit patrons of the park and do not block access to any areas of the park.
