Just to keep you informed, as of January 15, 2016, here is a brief synopsis of things being worked
on/or accomplished in your City.
Administrative Services:
 Recruiting for Event Set-Up/Support Technician, Parks Maintenance Specialist, Part-time
Recreation Center Attendant and Community Relations Specialist
 Promoted Michael Guerrero from Parks Maintenance Specialist to Neighborhood
Services Inspector
 Promoted Gail Phillips from Part-time Rec Center Attendant to Full-Time.
 Front Desk staff managed 988 calls and 343 walk-ins between 12/7/15 and 1/13/16
 Election qualification period ended Friday, January 8th and the following candidates
were successfully qualified:
o District 1 – Amy Quaremba, Richard Ferreira and Mark Devisse
o District 2 – Jesse Purdon and Greg DeWitt
o District 4 – Peter O’Flinn
o District 6 – Fred Forbes
o Mayor – Rick Steinmeyer, Peter Simmons and Stephen McIntosh
City Manager’s Office:
 Met with Deputy Mayor Steve McIntosh and the Committee for the new Hometown Hero
Program to help with the kick-off!
 Met with Parks & Recreation Director Nicole Perino and YMCA Ken Modalewski and the
new manager, Pete Chaddick, to talk about programs of mutual interest.
 Compiled the 2015 City Accomplishments and released to the media.
 Met with Staff regarding the Water Tower and possibility of repairs.
 Met with Christine Ross and Richard Mancini along with other EDC members and staff
members to talk about Workforce Housing.
 Attended the Neighborhood Services Staff Meeting.
 Attended a meeting with Mayor Nelson, Mayor Batos and Village Manager Steven Sarkozy
at the Village of Estero regarding the west Coconut proposed developments.
 Attended the Government Affairs Committee Meeting at the Chamber. Made a
presentation on the proposed Downtown regulations for parking and density bonuses.
 Met one-on-one with each Council Member to update them regarding Raptor Bay and
Bonita Village.
 Along with Mayor Nelson, met with Lee County Commissioner Larry Kiker and staff to
discuss the new Library.
 Attended the Bonita Springs Economic Development Committee Meeting
 Completed next steps in ongoing Citizens Water Strategy Task Force recommendations list
including outreach to members of the Regional Watershed Management Working Group
about second quarterly meeting plans, and including updating status report matrix on all
29 recommendations for Council review.

 Initiated turnover process from current Assistant City Manager to newly appointed staff
liaison members relative to the Technology Advisory Board, the Streetlight Advisory
Committee and the Historic Preservation Board.
 Gave a presentation to members of Spring Creek Village homeowners association on a
variety of city-related topics including, but not limited to, the status of the Week’s Fish
Camp development, the WCI Pelican Landing Development, the latest news on FEMA
Flood Insurance issues, the Down Town project and others.
 Completed mail out to all previously identified “point people” on still unpaved private
roads informing them of the option to still pursue paving projects with city financial
contribution in the coming year.

Outreach:
 Released: Nominate a Hometown Hero Program

 Released: Winter Edition City Newsletter-City’s Accomplishments 2015
 Released: “E-blast” – Topics: Nominate a Hometown Hero & Save the Dates: Evaluation
and Appraisal Report Public Workshop, Bonita Beach Road Visioning Public Workshops &
Stakeholders meeting. This “E-blast” goes out to over 59,000 email addresses.
 Continuing to work on the Green Webpage
BTV:
 Submitted report regarding the technical event that disturbed the January 6th CC
meeting.
 Edited Jan 6th master using a shot of the City's building North side as a background and
the text information provided indicating audio only during first portions of segment.
Meeting airing as of January 10th.
 Working on new City promos and tracking programs.
 Doing research on the new Leightronix broadcasting module and a few more accessories
to complement the recent wiring.
 Finished 2015 programming broadcasting data reports. Meeting all Florida Licensed
operator requirements for original hours and service to the public.
 Videotaped the Public Workshop on Evaluation and Appraisal Report
Information Technology:
 Working with Steve Rehbaum at Atkins on GIS Server Upgrades. Currently setting SQL
and ArcGIS Installs. (Estimated software install completion, two weeks).
 Continued work on New Employee IT Handbook.

 Working with Sophos on replacing Cisco Routers with Sophos at individual sites:
Neighborhood Services, Parks, Pool, Shed, DR. (delayed due to DR site connection
failure, working with Sophos on resolving) this will replace our current and old Cisco
firewalls.
 Room 118 Projector Installation, phone and network wiring install.
 Processed all user tickets
Development Services:
 American House: Phase 3 construction continues to move forward on schedule.
Underground work has been completed and the building construction is underway.
There plans are to open this phase early next year.
 Bay Landing Memory Care Facility: The Certificate for Occupancy has been issued for
this one story memory care facility just south of Terry Street. The below pictures show
this 8 month construction project from raw land to completion.

 Liberty Youth Ranch: New Development Order currently under review for phased
improvements to the previous Lee County Development Order. This initial phase
includes landscaping, underground utilities, lake improvements, project signs, and
construction of the administration building.
 Caliber Collision: Development Order currently under review for the construction of an
auto body shop, Caliber Collision, at the intersection of Strike Lane and Old 41. Work
includes construction of the 18,000 SF body repair shop, parking lot with new driveway
access connection to Old 41.
 Bonita Fairways: A Limited Development Order is currently under review to add a bike
lane and sidewalk through a portion of this community.
 Bonita Bay Multi Use Pathway: Project was just completed adding approximately 1000 If
of 6' wide concrete pedestrian pathway, that will add additional access to more
neighborhoods within Bonita Bay.

Finance:
 Completed procurement process for Banking Services.
 Completing contract negotiations and planning for the transition to a new Bank.
 Conducted City staff training on the Purchasing Policy and a new Purchasing Procedure
Manual.
 Participated in training on the financial statement software.
 Completed draft of a comprehensive Financial Policy.
 Completing the year-end process and preparing for the annual audit.
 Drafting a purchasing guide for vendors who want to do business with the City.
 On-going contract monitoring.
LCSO:
 Community Policing Deputies attended a meeting with City Event Personnel and Art Fest
personnel to discuss the upcoming Art Fest. Discussed were construction issues and set
up procedures.
 Community Policing Deputies attended and provided security at an HOA Meeting in the
Morton Grove Community. No issues occurred.
 Community Policing Deputies received a nuisance incident in the area of Longfellow
Road and followed up.
 Community Policing Deputies attended the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce
Holiday party at the Colony Community.
 Community Policing Deputies attended a de-brief meeting with Special Events
coordinator Lora Taylor reference Holiday in the Park event.
 Community Policing Deputies attended a “walk thru” with Wright Construction
reference to upcoming Art Fest.
 Community Policing Deputies attended a meeting at City Hall with Special Events
reference upcoming Wounded Warriors softball game.
 Community Policing Deputies attended Zonta Woman’s Club seminar on Human
Trafficking.
 Bonita Springs Community Policing Unit participated in its 4th Annual "Shop with a

Sheriff" Event. The Bonita CP Unit sponsored a Holiday Essay contest within two local
elementary schools in which students were asked to define "What doing the right thing"
means. 1200 essays were collected in the contest and 12 winners (ages 5-10 years old)
were chosen for an all-expenses-paid shopping spree at Target Coconut Point. During
the event each winner was accompanied by an LCSO Deputy and allowed to spend a
predetermined amount of donated funds. LCSO would like to give a special thank you to
Target Coconut Point and the City of Bonita Springs for their help and support during all
parts of this event. Due to overwhelming support from the community LCSO was also
able to sponsor the Creed Family during this event. 3 1/2 Damien Creed was
accompanied by the entire Bonita CP unit during his all-expense paid shopping spree.
The Creed Family was able to purchase many needed items from Target on Damien's
behalf. LCSO is proud to have been a part of Damien's shopping spree and hope he
enjoys all his new toys!
 Community Policing Deputies attended funeral of Fireman Paul Phillips.
 Community Policing Deputies picked up donated toys from Bonita Assistance Office for
future holiday events.
 Community Policing Deputies provided security and traffic control for annual Art Fest in
downtown Bonita Springs.
 Community Policing Deputies attended and provided security at City Council Meeting.
Neighborhood Services:
 Staff assisted at the annual Café of Life Christmas Eve lunch at the park- with donations,
staff provided toys for over 25 families and gift cards for fifteen families.
 Staff distributed additional donations in the form of Christmas meals to two families, and
a gift card and baked goods to another resident; as well as donated toys to another 20
families throughout the city.
 Staff cleaned up two properties with the help of donations from Rural King.

 Director and Supervisor met with Hendry County Community Development staff to assess
their code enforcement program and assist them in developing an effective program based
on successes from our program.
 Director completed the change of titles and updates to job descriptions continuing the
rebranding and continuous improvement processes of the department.
 Director hired Michael Guerrero from Parks and Recreation to fill the vacant Inspector
position; we are looking forward to welcoming Mike to our team.
 Director attended the Lee County Long Term Recovery meeting at the EOC
 Director and Outreach Coordinator Peggy Douglas met with Communications staff to
discuss use of the “Next Door” APP for outreach
Parks & Rec:
 Met with the consulting team of Stantec, ABB, Schenkel Shultz and AdAu Aquatic for the
Aquatic Center Interactive Water feature and Restroom facility project. A concept
design has been completed. The design plan will go before City Council.
 Attended the monthly Bicycle Pedestrian Safety Advisory Board meeting.
 Working with McMahon Associates on the Scope of Work for the City Wide Bicycle
Pedestrian Master Plan project. The proposal will go before City Council on January 20 th
for review and approval.
 Maggie Terrasi has been hired for the Parks and Recreation Senior Administrative
Assistant position. Please welcome her to the city.
 Gail Philips has been promoted from part time Recreation Center Attendant to Full time
Recreation Center Attendant.
 Met with the consulting team of Stantec and Schenkel Shultz Architecture for the
Recreation Center Fitness Room Expansion project.
 Attended a pre-application meeting with Community Development for the Children’s
Aquatic Center Interactive Water feature and restroom facility project.
 Met with FDOT along with Matt Feeney and our hired consultant Coastal engineering for
the design of a bridge under I-75 to connect Cullum’s Trail.

 Met with Hans Wilson and Associates for the design plan for a replacement dock at
Riverside Park. The new design will implement a canoe/kayak launch as well as 3 boat
slips.
 The overflow parking lot at the Dog Park is now complete with Pea gravel installed.
 Park staff assisted with the National Art Festival.
 Attended the Leadership Bonita Infrastructure Day.
