Mrs. Gola’s 2015-2016 Classroom Procedures Please note that this information and more can be found on my class web page. Go to www.taylorisd.org. Locate Pasemann Elementary under the “Campus” tab and then go to “Staff Directory” under the “About” tab. Type in my name or scroll down to find me. Hope you visit there often for the most up-to-date classroom and school information! Homework/Daily Folder: This folder will go home daily. It is important that you check this daily, as this is one of the ways you receive information about school and your 3rd grader. It is your child’s responsibility to return it to school. This folder will start the first day of school. Agenda Book: Each day your 3rd grader will bring home a spiral bound “Agenda” book. Inside there is much to read. You will find a behavior section and a section to sign out graded papers. Graded Papers: In my room, graded papers will go home in the back of the daily folder every Wednesday (subject to change). Please look over work and comments. Parents, you will need to sign the back of the agenda book and return it to school the next day with your child. Homework: Your child will have Reading, Spelling and Math homework daily. The spelling list can be found in the homework folder in the clear cover behind the newsletter. Book Orders: Ordering from Scholastic is optional. We have a new district policy when it comes to purchasing books. I will provide web sight and log in information in a note soon. If you plan on ordering, you will need to do so online (This is a great and inexpensive way for your child to get books and it earns books for our classroom). The books will then ship to school and I will distribute them to your child. Sending Money: When sending money to school, please make sure that it is in an envelope, or baggie AND that it is labeled with your child’s name, my name, and purpose for the money. Water Bottle: I encourage my students to bring a “pop-up” style water bottle with water daily. It is important to hydrate to keep our brains fully functional and at its best! Transportation: Please send a note or call the office if there is ANY change in the way your child will leave school for the day, otherwise your child will be sent home the way you established with me. This is a policy in the school handbook. Communication: The best way to communicate with me is through the agenda book, send a note, or send an email. You may also call the school, leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. My conference time is 9:30-10:15am and the school phone number is 512-352-1016. You may also e-mail me at agola@taylorisd.org. Communication between parents and teacher is such an important element in your child’s education. Lunch: Our lunchtime is from 12:15-12:45. If you come to eat with your child, please sign in the office and get a badge first. Tables are near the windows for your visit. Sorry, no other classmates are allowed to join. Book bags and reading at home: Your child will be taking JUST RIGHT books home daily. Please remember how important it is to read with your child. Let them read to you and you read to them. They may bring the same book home several days in a row. Read and reread the book again as this helps your child develop comprehension and fluency. Some tips…talk about the story, try to relate it to something you all have done, or give it a twist and discuss how this would change the story. You may also ask your child questions from the question page I have provided for you, that remains in their book bag. MOST importantly… enjoy reading and the time spent with your child. Also…Let your child see you read! Birthdays: You may bring cupcakes for your child’s birthday after 2:00pm. Please inform me so we can arrange the day and time to have them. Read the student handbook for more information. Discipline: We are a “Leader In Me” campus! We follow the 7 Habits. We also have our school and classroom rules: be kind, be safe, and be responsible. As expected, we also have many procedures to follow, look in the handbook for more details. Please make sure you sign the daily behavior log each night to help our children with their choices, good or bad. I hope this information will help you in understanding the procedures in my classroom. Thank you in advance for participating in your child’s 3rd grade experience. I look forward to working with all of you this year. It’s going to be outstanding! Thanks, Mrs. Gola
