Directions: Choose a country or region that you would be interested in learning about. As a small group, read the information
and fill out the graphic organizer with that information. Information and tasks may be divided among members of the group, but
every group member must participate in filing out an organizer. Your final product should be a powerpoint slide presentation
containing at least four (4) slides of information.
Information from each country/region should include; the background and history, influences on the production of the music,
the instruments used in performing the music, uses of the music, important dates, different types of songs or styles
performed, the theory involved in playing the music, and the different genres of this countries music (i.e. Classical, Popular,
Folk).
You may use resources found on Ms. Young and Mr. Drye’s web pages for this research. If you can find listening examples of the
music to put into the power point, that would be great.

information
Clear information.
Limited information
Little or no information
Students will each be graded on their portion of work and the organizer they fill out. In order to receive a score level of 4, the
student must have at least five (5) facts about their area researched. The entire project will then be given a total score which
will be averaged into the individual students score.
Level 4
Clear, consistent and quality information means that there are 5 or more pieces of information in the students’ graphic
organizer. This means that each piece of information should be more than one sentence long and provide specific details about
the area. Bullet points will be accepted if more information is provided; ex. more than three bullet points in each box provided in
the rubric.
Level 3
Clear information means that there are at least 5 pieces of information in the students’ graphic organizer. This means that each
piece of information is at least one sentence long and provides some details about the area. Bullet point for a level 3 means two
or more bullets in each box provided in the organizer.
Level 2
Limited information means that less than 5 pieces of information in the students’ graphic organizer. This means that the
information is not in complete sentences and two or fewer bullet points are provided in the organizer.
Level 1
Little or no information means that there are 4 or fewer pieces of information in the students’ graphic organizer. This means
there are no sentences and one bullet point in each box provided in the organizer.

4 – Did an acceptable amount of individual work and participated with the group.
3 – Did an average amount of individual work and had little contribution to the group project.
2 – Did a little individual work and did not work well with the group.
1 – Did hardly any individual work and did not participate with the group at all.
