Henry James Memorial School Parent Teacher Council Dear Parents and Guardians, August, 2015 Welcome to Henry James Memorial School Parent Teacher Council (PTC). The PTC is comprised of parents, teachers, and administrators who work to enrich educational and social programs for HJMS students. This year, the PTC is already planning many worthwhile activities, events and projects including: Visiting authors, artists, and musicians Teacher “wish list” requests, staff lunches and Teacher Appreciation Week. Neon Night - a fun night that includes games, sports, inflatable centers, and a D.J. Gardening, which beautifies the school grounds The HJMS Student Directory Scholarships for families in need Parent Forum Nights The PTC’s funds come from three major sources: membership dues, School Spirit donations and a Fall fundraiser. Families may join the PTC at any time during the year. As a PTC member, you will receive a copy of the school directory. A School Spirit donation is also a great way to support the PTC. Last year, the PTC was able to provide over $6,500 back to the school in the form of technology, speakers/presentations, and student activities as a result of the generosity of HJMS families. Please join the PTC and/or make a donation on the attached membership form. When complete, please return it to school. We encourage all parents to attend our PTC meetings. These meetings are a great way to find out what’s happening at HJMS and in the district from Principal Brian White, Vice Principal Jeffrey Pinney and teacher representatives. At these meetings, parents have the opportunity to ask questions and raise issues of concern. The tentative meeting dates for the 2015-2016 school year are: Thursday, September 10th Thursday, October 8th Thursday, November 12th Thursday, December 10th Thursday, January 14th Thursday, February 11th Thursday, March 10th Thursday, April 21th Thursday, May 12th All meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in room 116 at HJMS. The PTC is currently looking for volunteers-- no experience is required! This is a great way to stay involved with students, parents and faculty and to meet new friends. Most volunteer time occurs after school hours and is significantly less demanding than at the elementary school level. Attached to this letter is a brief description of PTC committees and volunteer opportunities. We hope that each of you will find an area in which to participate. We look forward to meeting you and working together this school year. Please contact any of us with questions.
