Meeting Minutes for April 15, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
President, Jane Duzansky called the meeting to order it was seconded by Kim LaFrancis.
Approval of March 2014 meeting minutes:
A motion to approve was made and seconded by Kristen Brach.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Mrs. Peterson reported:
 Distributed 93 books at Family Fitness Night.
 New rugs in the entry ways were paid for with the donation received from Jewel.
Teacher’s Report
Mrs. Olzewski reported:
 1st graders are researching whales and bringing change to school to adopt Humpback whales
from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. We're hoping to adopt three whales.
 2nd grade is having Solar System stations with different games and activities Thursday (the
afternoon of the 17) when the Star Lab will be here.
 4th grade is studying ecology in science. We will attend the Earthfest at Glenbard South on April
25. (Earth Day) This is a program that GBS provides to all 4th grades in the district.
 Red Ribbon Run Friday, April 25, 2014 from 9:00 to noon.
 A few volunteer are needed.
 Thank you from the staff for the money to purchase materials for our classrooms. It is very much
appreciated!
Guest Speaker, Glen Crest PTC President, Erin Stafford reported:
 Glen Crest PTC volunteers needed. There is an opening for a Vice President role in the PTC.
Please let Erin know if you are interested.
 Glen Crest PTC is starting a shadow program. Volunteers can work alongside a current board
member before assuming the position responsibilities the following year.
Committee Reports
Teacher Appreciation Week:
Nia Esposito reported:
 Tuesday, April 29, - special breakfast for teachers
 Weds., April 30, - bring a flower for your teacher
 Thurs. May 1, - wear blue
 Fri. May 2, - coffee and sweets cart for teachers
Kindergarten Olympic Field Day
Nia Esposito reported:
 Working with Field Day Chair to plan event.
School Supplies
Julia Kling reported:
 Sale is going on now. Online ordering available. Sale ends April 24, 2014.
Volunteer Appreciation
Julia Kling reported:

The event will be held at Ellyn’s on May 15. All volunteers and staff are welcome and
encouraged to attend.
Cultural Arts
Anne Lange reported:
 The Pro Kids assembly was held in the beginning of the school year, as well as, a Family Pro
Kids event.
 Wright Brothers assembly was held in December and the final assembly will be the sky dome
assembly this Thursday.
 There are funds still available in the budget. Some funds could possibly be used to support
activities at an all school picnic at the end of the year.
Escrip
Lanie Kennedy reported:
 With the close of Dominicks Escrip has only generated about $2. Families can still register credit
cards with this program but few do. The PTC will need to consider whether to pursue this
program in the future.
Box Tops
Uzma Muneer reported:
 Goal is to collect 20,000. To date 19,977 box tops have been collected.
 To increase participation, new signs have been posted and monthly results have been posted on
the PTC website. Winter and spring collections sheets were distributed in December and March
 Expenses are around $100
 Considering making changes to how the contest portion works.

Tyson Project A+
Uzma Muneer reported:
 Tyson labels program seems to be unknown to most parents.
 Each label is worth .24. Currently 85 labels have been submitted and 100 labels are needed
before they can be redeemed.
Labels for Education
Uzma Munner reported:
 In November, 42,950 points were spent for gym equipment. The points had been collected for
several years and this brought the balance back to zero.
 The current balance is $10,345.
 To improve awareness, a collection sheet was sent home in March.
 Considering offering a contest to encourage participation.
Park View $$
Rebecca Salt reported:
 Profit to date is $858. There are 63 users with a 17% participation rate.
 Not sure if we will meet this year’s goal. The community outreach gift card program was not
offered this year and possibly impacted profits.
 Suggestions to increase participate include; changing the name, simplifying the form, and
possibly earmarking funds for a specific goal or item.
 A new chair is need for next school year.
Restaurant Night
Kim LaFrancis reported:
 At the end of March profits totaled $769. Still two more events this school year.
Family Fitness Night
Yolanda Smith reported:
 Over 175 participants. Lower totals this year were attributed to the later date and spring sports
had started.
 Over $40 raffle prizes
 Majority of budget went towards food.
Cartridges for Kids
Yolanda Smith reported:
 Better advertising to encourage support.
Market Day
Kristen Brach reported:
 $123 profit for last month. A total of $863 profit for the year so far.
 Gordon Food Service acquired Market Day. Next year order processing will be much simpler,
items will be pre-packaged.
 Market Day will replace Innisbrook for next year’s large fundraiser. Better profit margins and
ease of use contributed to the switch.
Nominating Board
Jen Brzezkinski reported:
 Nominations for Co-PTC Presidents are Mimi Cunningham and Megan Rafferty
 Nominations for Co-Vice President are Nia Esposito and Rhonda Nevis
 Nomination for Treasurer, Laura Miranda.
 Nomination for Secretary, Jen Ledet.
Olympic Field Day:
 Field Day is scheduled for May 28 and rain date is May 29.
 60 volunteers are need to set-up, fill water balloons and run games.
 Considering a canvas sport bag for favors
 Budget was increased.
 Working with Mrs. Shafton to make flags.
 There are no retirees to lead procession this year. Class colors will be posted on the PTC
website.
