TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER Technical Support Engineers assist customer's world-wide in analyzing, tracking, and solving issues related to PTC´s suite of PTC Products including Pro/ ENGINEER, Pro/INTRALINK, and Windchill Solutions. A Technical Support Engineer will develop expert communication, presentation and PTC Product skills as a result of working with customers worldwide in various discrete manufacturing environments. This position offers a candidate numerous opportunities to learn and use the world's leading solid modeling and data management packages. Engineers are offered a diverse work environment and strong career path through the variety of support positions. New engineers are trained on Pro/ENGINEER's main areas of Systems and Interface, Solid Modeling, and Detailing while also learning how this data is handled in a Data Management solution. Systems and Interface training will allow an employee to help customers with hardware specific issues as well as functionality that pertains to data exchange between CAD packages or data transfer between computer systems for printing or file retrieval. Core Geometry training prepares an engineer to assist customers during the design process of a part or assembly to assure accurate 3-dimensional parametric modeling techniques. This may include the use of cutting edge technologies in Surfacing, Behavior Modeling, or Virtual Reality Software. Finally, a candidate will be trained on Pro/ENGINEER's 2-dimensional drawing module where views, tolerances, tables, notes and symbols are generated. Data Management training will allow employees to assist customers with the setup and usage of clientserver Data Management software used to manage CAD data. Engineers assist customers during the initial setup of the customer specific configuration, implementation and normal usage of the product. This will include assisting Database Administrators, Information Technology groups, and direct users of the software. This position will deal with a range of issues that arise with the software, which may include network configuration, Pro/ENGINEER interaction, data reuse, data migration, backup and recovery of a database, data replication, and performance issues. Some Engineers in the Data Management group are Oracle DBA certified or are participating in Oracle training. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work with administrators and users from client companies on issues relating to design or functionality within Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/INTRALINK, and Windchill products. 2. Participate as a part of a team and work well with other groups such as Quality Assurance, Development, Technical Marketing and Sales. 3. Develop and improve technical knowledge of PTC products 4. Understand and apply technical support procedures and work instructions 5. File and track Software Performance Reports with the development department 6.
